Or how long can we hold onto a manager has got us into a great position on the field with players he signed, coaches and continues to develop the club on a shoestring.

some of the absolute drivvel posted on here tonight is not unusual though.

Roy has got us into a fantastic position and got top players in, were not disputing that but the point we r trying to get accross is that if hes not careful he will throw it away....well i dont think he is picking the team but thats a different thread.......

I acknowledge that Roy has recruited well given his financial constraints. I have a great deal of respect for him and accept we are in a much better shape thanks in no small part to the way he conducts himself, his standing in the game and the contacts his experience brings.

However, unlike some on here, I do not think that for all his qualities, he should be exempt from criticism. He changed a winning permutation around and produced a system that on the plus side makes us difficult to beat but on the minus side makes us struggle to win.

Recent performances against teams we are perfectly capable of beating have brought the manager's tactical shortcomings into focus. I firmly believe he has persevered with this safety-first formation for too long and as some of us predicted many weeks ago (only to be labelled as harbingers of doom) this has cost us big time.

Just hope he's done a bit of soul-searching and decided to give it a real go when we face a rejuvenated Doncaster on Wednesday. Just hope he belatedly trusts his players to go for the jugular. We are a good side, we must now prove it...

You've made an accusation that Roy isn't picking the team, so please quantify your accusation by telling us who is.

His collaborator-in-chief has just been online and neglected to enlighten us; he won't be able to either.

maybe he is resting a "old man" for the donny game? maybe, with 3 out of 4 of our back line injured he packed the midfield to give extra protection to our goalkeeper and his makeshift defense?

rather put up with that than a manager throwing sense and caution to the wind, lose lots of games, and struggle at the bottom.
A new hope.

I bet your one of those blokes that has no ambition or drive and constantly settles for mediocrity. I bet the most interesting qustion you get to ask in your job is "do you want fries with that".

As for surviving relegation its worth noting that Mcfarland was the guy who steered us to the lofty heights of 17th Woohoo.

That was a silly thing to say.
Mark is a very very motivated young man full of drive and ambition.
You really shouldn't get so personal without knowing the facts.

Yes, but that was 2 seasons ago!!! Stop living in the past! This is now and we have a good side now!!

2 seasons ago, who'd have thought Chelsea would dominate the Premiership? Or that Wigan would be in the Premiership? Who also would have thought that after beating a mid-table Luton side on the last game of the season the next season they would walk the division (deservedly so) and then do well in the Champtionship the year after? Who would have thought Hartlepool and Bristol City would struggle this season? Football is an unpredictable game and that's what makes it so great. You make it sound as if we should be satisfied with throwing promotion away just because 2 years ago we nearly went down. That was then and this is now, we have a team good enough to go up and the season everyone (including the supporters) starts believing that then the better!
