Good, bring on the Saffies!!!!! BTW such sad news about Mark Boucher, a freak accident and that's it career over. From memory didn't Paul Downton have the same thing happen to him?

Horrible injury although he was set to retire after this series anyway.

Tom Knight, called up by England U19, sadly, he was born in Sheffield though, played his early club cricket for Eckington though, but we can't have everything.

Think the only Chesterfield born player in the Derbyshire Squad is Ben Slater and the only other Derbyshire born man is Matt Lineker. It's about time we started producing county players from up here, been sadly lacking for a while.

Second time Knight has been called up by the U19s although it appears Peter Burgoyne from Derbyshire hasnt made this squad after being in it last summer.

As for Derbyshire born whilst Ross Whiteley isnt Derbyshire born i think he has spent most of his cricket at Chesterfield from a youngish age so he's certainly been developed in Derbyshire. As for Ben Slater he looks a decent talent....worrying thing is i remember bowling at him as a raw young lad in Chesterfields 2nd XI!!

For what its worth Derbyshire appear to have turned a corner in terms of giving the young local lads a go. A while back you couldnt move in the Derbyshire side for Kolpak players whereas now there are a number of local lads getting a go. Likes of Borrington, Linekar, Poynton, Whiteley, Slater, Burgoyne, Knight, Alex Hughes and more recently Chris Durham either have played a lot of local cricket or still are playing their cricket in the local Derbyshire league.

That Durham lad's born in Stockport but aren't all mothers to be from the High Peak sent there? Certainly he's from Chapel en le Frith.

Got next Wednesday booked off work for day one of the match at Queens Park, weather permitting. Not sure how wet it is on there.

Unfortunately i havent got the holiday to book a day off to go down but will certainly pop down when i finish at half 4 on most days, as you say weather permitting, to have a watch after tea when its free to get in. Only takes 5mins on the bike to get down their from home.

In other cricket related news...other half has secured tickets for the first day of the ashes test at Durham next summer for my birthday!! :sunglasses

If my fellow cricket watcher and I spend our day as I intend we'll certainly not be travelling back by bike. Thinking on we will probably get a keg from the real ale shop to take down!

Definitely the way to do it....and over the last few years the only way to do it when it comes to watching Derbyshire!!

Remember the first year they were back at the park me, my other half and my mate and his missus went down for the second day. I had to walk back home at lunch to refill the cooler box as we'd managed to drink everything we took before lunch!!

I'm not buying that rubbish lager from that fat bloke in the trailer at £3.50 a pint. This way we can do it in style and cheaper though we'll need to be adjacent to the lavs by the afternoon session. A day like this would be fine but I've not dared look at a long range forecast.

I'm not. Played yesterday which would means being out all afternoon again would be a bit too much. A game against a bunch of amateurs doesn't really appeal. Going on Wednesday though and probably next Sunday.

Guna head down Sunday i think. May try and get Friday too as i have nothing on at the moment.

I know the tickets are cheaper booked in advance but is there not a code for season ticket holders to enter to get more of a discount? I know there was for the t20's i went too at Derby last month
