It certainly can't help team spirit knowing you dip into your pocket to play knowing that cash is effectively going straight to a team mate.

In fact I know at one local club they stopped bothering with the public whip round pre-game when it became apparent only one player was actually paying!

We had a very average batsman a few years back who was 'allowed' not to pay subs and I was on the committee at the time completely oblivious to it!

Is that whilst i was there too? Intrigued! Seeing you mentioned an Aussie player in an earlier post - Do you remember that gay aussie at Mansfield back in the day? The Sunday where we were about 23 for 8 then i somehow took loads of runs off him (all off the inside and outside edge!). he was the one who Linney slagged off at the boundary, and then regretted it when the 1st ball he faced from the Aussie whistled past his ears! Classic.

Glamorgan will be wanting to get home tonight. I thought getting bowled out quickly this morning could be a good thing. All those draft players will get to play tomorrow locally.

Bit of a wobble with Guptill and Madsen both getting out but fairly confident we should get over the line from here.

Officially the draft doesnt actually happen anymore. The only players that play for clubs as well are ones where its organised separately by the club. Likes of Poynton and Whiteley have played for Swarkestone last couple of years whilst Durston has been playing for Chesterfield last season and this one.

Another good win for Derbyshire....and that draw should mean a nice little cushion at the top.

After a shaky start this morning Derbyshire plugged away to bowl Glamorgan out. Another 5 wickets for wilted rose reject Wainwright.

The rain was closing in when Derbyshire started their 2nd innings. Even Borrington hit a 6!

It was our adult entertainer. I remember hearing about that. Wasn't he barracking him from the boundary with the others who'd got out until he realised he was the one who still had to bat! Apparently his face was a picture when the penny dropped that his revenge may be painful!

Oh right, the man with the permatan and fake teeth! Yes Linney dropped himself in it, and got buzzed on his first ball to clip his wings a bit. I think i went in at 26-8 and me and Nicola (Stonewall) somehow got us to about 68 all out - think i came away from the crease with a much thinner bat! The Aussie bowled me with his last ball of his alloted overs; i was expecting a rib tickler in response to inside edging him for a boundary the previous ball but he did me with a yorker! Really miss playing, and have certainly piled on the pounds since i stopped - damn shoulder!

Another decent day so far for Derbyshire....Essex 154-6 having chosen to bat. Wainwright getting the bulk of the wickets again...looking a good signing.

Yep....one thing bowling sides out cheaply when its been like it has been but to do it yesterday was a massive effort. Good start to a few cricketing days for me....looks like being red hot for playing on Saturday at Tutbury, no 10/11 over spells this weekend, then off to Trent Bridge on Sunday.

Hoping for no repeat of the last time we went there which wasnt a bowlers day....they got 370 and we very nearly knocked them off!!

257-6 at the minute after 79 overs.

Madsen hit another half century, albeit quite a steady one in 140, before being caught behind off Masters.

Durston's still in there atm with 115 off 134, although Wainwright has just fell, with Clare coming in at the top of the tail.

I'd be happy with 320 now, although was expecting us to be hitting around the 380 mark.

Still think we've got enough in us to take the points here though.

It seems at the minute there's always one or more of the top order chipping in with a ton when needed.

I really think we've got enough this year.

Edit: Ouch. Durston and Clare have just fell in quick succession, now 267-8.

From what was a promising start to the innings, we'll now be lucky to hit 300.

At least 150 lead would have been expected after the bowling performance yesterday.

Bit of a wobble either side of tea. Clare and Durston both gone. 268-8 now but handy lead of nearly 90.

Could have done with a few more though Jon.

Another good knock from Wes though.

Good little cameos at the end from poynton and groenwald takes us to 320 for a more than useful lead and they're 20-2 already although recovered from 3-2!!

Essex 46-2 at close. Need early wickets in the morning to press home the advantage.

I said I'd take 320 a little earlier. Not a bad total in the end.

Good to take a couple of wickets before COP, but really need a good start in the 1st session now, to stop them getting a foothold.

A decent partnership will see our lead cut quite quickly. Could do with getting one of the overnighters out early doors.

Did they stick a night watchman in after losing the early wickets, or just follow the order??
