I don't gamble, but I don't see whats wrong with betting against us either if you think you can make a bit of money. I don't find it disloyal or anything of the sort. The people with the problem with this have the problem as its not even their money, so why does it upset them so much? None of their business I'd say! Personally if I did bet I'd have thought backing town to lose this season is a no brainer, lol

True, I think some people run an imaginary 'best fan' league though, as if there's a prize at the end of the season. Points added for finding fans that aren't 100% optimistic about the club, and more if you can somehow blame them for recent results.
No points added for number of games attended though or money spent on anything related to the club ;)

+1

Sod this "i'd never bet against my own team" sanctimonious crap. If they're going to lose and it's going to cause you misery as a fan...i see it as compensation.

Stevenage win/Chesterfield lose a good double bet.

Trottman is due to score a header too soon. i bet you can get 40s for him as first/last goalscorer.

I'd like to very much be bottom of that league because the people who support town who are like that have always been the biggest mugs going.

the tragedy is that wycombe have made signings that should put nails into JS's coffin...if they finish above us he has to go because they are truly abysmal and how they got promoted is a mystery.

They were inferior to several sides in league 2. So if they somehow scrape out of bother on the back of intelligent signings...well done to them but shame on us.

We still have no presence up top. Bowery is "encouraging" in his play...but what is it...2 goals in 18 or something daft like that?

Clarke is still our leading goalscorer FFS (and some fans didnt rate him - LOL)...we're down. arrogance...stupidity, complacency and failure. no excuses about "budgets and we can't compete" either like at saltergate.

This season has proved that even on a level playing field we're still destined for ultimate failure. maybe the rot from higher up needs removing. we've taken the club from saltergate but have we taken the farce out of the club?

WHERE IS OUR CRAIG DAVIES REPLACEMENT?

We're down because of these inadequacies

1. We failed to realise that despite winning the league we did so by outscoring sides whilst letting in a lot of goals (even at home...see Crewe and Shrewsbury for examples)

2. We lost Tommy Lee and replaced them with Coco the clown and his brother in the interim making us a total laughing stock for a month killing confidence

3. We realised in mid-september that the side we had wasn't good enough and panic-signed Westcarr. We signed some more loanees who ultimately lost interest (a seemingly decent defender called grounds who's final performances were so bad they were a disgrace)

4. We have not played the same side twice. Or so it seems. Genuinely good players like Morgan and Westcarr would do well and the be benched without explanation.

5. Lester has been forced to play too often

6. Allott has also been forced to play too often

7. We had a decent fullback called Smith who has evaporated into thin air

8. We had a seemingly quality midfielder from Arsenal (from a technical point of view ONLY) who has also disappeared into thin air

9. We have continued to play a player who is about as much use as a cone in midfield when we are not in possession

10. We have no striker who can hold the ball up. No replacement for Davies. No presence. And yet we desperately hit it up top.

....i can't be bothered but this could go on and on and on...you all know the above (aside the deluded bunch)

Utter failure. Thank god i decided not to bother with a season ticket.

Its all true absolutely true, problem is I bought 5 Season Tickets and each time theres a home game a go round all the neighbours asking if they want to come to the game with me! My eldest lad still comes, he's hooked, but the others lost interest after the first few games!

Wonder what that says of the folk who disagree!

Let them keep lumping it on town to win then

All I'm saying is.. its surely up to whoever to do whatever he/she wants with their own money, thats all and if they want to bet against us then so what? I'm sure ALL would take a hit in the pocket for 3 points; saying otherwise is like accusing them of not being a proper Spireite.

it's probably cost me more to be honest (more fool me) but it wont next season...i've got a 7 month old son and i can easily shift priorities (with a heavy heart) to more important things in a flash.

As can others.

I think we'll average over 5000 next season still. the support this season has been tremendous. They can't blame the fans for a single thing. if they had an ounce of decency the wembley buses would be free for compensation for what is a total shambles/farce/failure(insert word here)

That would require thinking outside the box though. Both on and off the pitch that's been an absolute failure. We've all been let down. Its disappointing. To add insult the injury is to listen to the interviews post game "I think we did well" etc when we were guff.

That's quite amusing. But also disturbingly accurate...

Sad sad days.
We wouldn't have scored there in days with Bowery/Ajose/Boden.

It says something when a defender is the closest you come to a goal.

Hardly a good sign that is it.

The support has been awesome, especially away. Only the big boys can beat us I think. Its so annoying thinking about how it would be if we were mid table and in with a shout for a play off position right now. The ground would be close to full I'm sure and we'd be talking about filling the corners in etc! The Town would also be buzzing which is great for all of us, especially in the economic climate. we've been badly let down by poor management of the club and team this season and sadly it looks like the thing is going to have to be built up again next season. Getting out of league two is not easy, as someone else has said it wasn't done last year through good defending, we basically outscored the others and at the moment we don't look like scoring at Sunday League level cos no-one shoots for starters so problem no.1 is getting a goalscorer.

Thing is I like them as well (I tend to like all town players in a stubborn loyal way), but they -B and B are really just ok league 2 players (neither regulars in last yrs side)- they're always likely to sneak the odd goal but none are going to be prolific.
We should have gone for Someone earlier.....zzz

I think for the first time we can actually say this.

As we are not at saltergate anymore so the excuses (understandable) "we can't compete financially"...we don't make money off the field"..."we only average 3500 which is league 2"..."we have no facilities to attract players" etc etc can all be disregarded now.

We have an average crowd of around 6700 loyal and quality supporters (circa 6000 home fans)...good facilities for players and fans. We had EVERY opportunity to prepare properly for this season and push on. We didnt need lots of money just ambition. instead we showed complacency and a worrying lack of knowledge.

And yet the fans have been far more patient than i ever remember at saltergate. This is the worst season since Duncan's house of cards finally collapsed in 1999/2000.
