Tonight was very clear cut for me, we NEEDED 3 points from the fixture to stand a chance of staying up. It hurts me to say this but we've sadly shot it.

I've not wanted to admit it, I've wanted to believe we could scrape our way out, but the goals we concede late on have cost us so many points. I applaud Shez's attacking line up but surely there comes a point when you settle for what you have. I was surprised at the subs tonight. I need a drink

look at it from a different angle.

If we climb ONE place every FOUR games. We survive

At this point, yes.

They are on the verge of implosion after losing tonight.

Get the first goal and I'm confident.

I'm sure they'll find their form against us

But get the first two and we should get a draw

Agreed, went to the Carlisle match and I defended our team even though everyone who didn't go were slating them.

But you've got to admit a lot of the time Sheridan struggles to get the team to see a game out. There have also been numerous occasions of him bringing subs on far too late this season. It's costing us.

And when he does you have to question his choice of sub??

I was even ranting at him last season for doing exactly the same! I can never work out 8 out of 10 of his substitutions - they are that bad!
I don't want us to go down, but I don't want him to be in charge next season either - he will never get us anywhere near the playoffs in this league even though every year he'll have a far greater budget than the likes of Stevenage. He just hasn't got it as a manager! I mean - whats he going to do in the summer when we have no squad?? He's a nightmare when he needs loads of players (he really should have assembled a settled squad of our own players now, and looking to loans for the extra bit of quality and fine tuning with the odd permanent signing...NOT signing half the squad in loans and then an entire squad in the summer - it's just bonkers and I've never known a manager work like this!

i for 1 am gutted. we concede late on way too often. I didnt go tonight but the stats dont lie. chucked another game away

And by the sound of it we could have had another two before half time but chances yet again squandered. You really can't progress with an attacking tactic without an outright goalscorer.

Have to agree and it saddens me because if you take the players as individuals, you would not think we'd be in the position that we are, but silly mistakes and poor decisions with regards to subs especially seem to be costing us dearly everytime.
We don't deserve to go down, but if/when we do, I don't think there's anyone other than Sheridan that will be at fault, if he can't motivate the players enough, eradicate stupid errors, correct set pieces (defending and attacking) and make the right decisions for the matchday squad (and subs) then I don't see how anyone could defend him if we end up back in L2.

His position is untenable if we are relegated, unless the club will reward failure in spectacular fashion

its an ever decreasing circle which started in the summer, thinking back to those days of logging on to the website bemused that there was zero news about players being signed and then a sudden rush of loan signings like Johnson, Grounds etc. The writing was on the wall but the optimists including myself just refused to see it.

the club will not remove him at the end of the season for all the reasons discussed a few months ago.

this game was surely crying out for a defensively minded midfielder to come on and help shore things up, unfortunately the genius only has whitaker on there ho hum.

Bang on for me and that's what I was puzzling at looking at his bench. I was even toying with the idea of bringing Lester off and deploying Westcarr as a defencive midfielder just to try and see the game out. Where's Niven?? Not my favourite player in the world, but he would have made my bench and been on when they changed to a 4-4-2...basically they changed the shape of the game to try and get back into the game and we stood and watched and let them get on with it! (thats the way it sounded anyhow, had to say when your not there). Criminal if thats the case!

Conceding in the last few minutes seems to make the result worse,i really thought we might just hang on for those valuable 3 points, but no we throw it away again. The task in hand becomes very much harder by the minute. I live in hope though.

I've never mentioned relegation up until tonight.

I looked at the table this morning and decided in MY MIND, that we needed a win tonight to stand any chance of avoiding relegation.

Where are the wins going to come from?

Which teams will we catch?

what has happened to nivo, since he came on and played well he hasnt had a minute surely niven deserves a place on the bench because you know exactly what you get from him

I'm not even a Niven fan and I agree. And why the hell did we bring Boden on instead of Bowery? Boden gets constantly bullied by centre halves and isn't good enough for this league.

Did you even enjoy last season as you strike me as someone who wallows in misery and negativity?

Exactly - Niven's not my man and I must have bored everyone silly with this, BUT I've always stated that he does have a place in our squad and that place was tonight when they tried to get something out of the game with changing their tactics! Sheridan should have been alert to this and when he saw that the balance of the game was changing it was then time for Nivo! But not to be on the bench how was he supposed to go from attacking lineup to a more defencive, organised man behind the ball setup? The game was there to be won and in the end we ran a mile short!

But that is what I am expecting to see
