Makes me worried that we haven't got any defensive cover on the bench just incase any of our defenders get injured..

I would expect that Hurst is injured - he's been carrying an injured ankle for a couple of games. We have two defenders in midfield if the need arises!

Missing a pre-going out party at my mates to listen to this, so we better win for all the stick I've been getting, and it'll make my Valentine's night a lot more enjoyable :)

As for the line up, not sure why Smith has been completely dropped as of late, he isn't injured and didn't have a run of poor form before being dropped (other than that goal he gave away to exeter, but he was being played VERY out of position so can't be blamed really), I understand Ridehalgh is the better option at the minute but surely he should be on the bench tonight rather than just having all attacking players?

Only 3 players starting tonight from the last home game against Bury. That must be a Barabas omen
Come on you Blues!

No, but if it comes to that they'd have to reshuffle with a midfielder coming in; Lowry is cover for RB, Robertson for CB and Ridehalgh for LB.

..maybe so, but perhaps Les has learned a lesson - give him a rest rather than risk his confidence and form deteriorating like Grounds's did. I think it's a good move.

This is Lowry's biggest day for a long time. Good luck mate.

It's a very strong bench.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

I'd almost forgotten about Smith, you're right, I don't know what's happened there.

I tried to explain this the other week, but it seems it's fell on deaf ears. The way Sheridan sets this team up means we have defensive cover in all positions. If Trottman or Thomo get injured then Robbo moves over to CB, with Ridehalgh reverting to LB. If Robbo gets injured, the same applies for Ridehalgh. Mendy can cover at RB if required. We have options all over the midfield from the bench, and the forward positions too. I applaud Sheridan for this. Statement of intent, if you like, and shows we're going to Gigg to win the game.
Mug?? Being wrong never gets boring!

Must be quite annoying for him to have come from Yeovil in the summer where he was playing pretty much every match, ignoring a lot of competing offers to come to Chesterfield, only to not even make the squad.

Not sure why Mendy is ahead of westcarr in the pecking order unless it's still a fitness issue and also not sure why playing ridehalgh out of position achieves anything as kopgirl said smith hasn't done much wrong.

This is probably the best I've felt when seeing a line up all season. Westcarr in for Mendy as and when and I think we've got our strongest XI. I'd like to think we can really impose ourselves tonight and score 3 for the first time in god knows how long...

But has he been any worse than anyone else?! He was one of the least bad players on quite a few occasions, I know that isn't saying much but I can't think of a single performance, where he's been played in position, that warrants being dropped from the squad entirely...
