I would give Stockport (A6) a miss at this time of day. My strong preference is Chapel-en-le Frith, then A624 to Glossop. You dont need to go into Glossop Town Centre. Take a left turn on entering the built-up area at the bottom of the hill, then take the A57 to its junction with the M67 at Hattersley. M67 leads onto M60/M66 for Bury. Get in there!!!

Think I'm going snake pass route tonight, gonna be closer to where i'm setting off from.
Actually just checked and it's quicker on A623, so i will be going the same route as to Oldham. Just need to remember not to go end up in Oldham

that route is A623, turn off at New Mills or Hazel Grove, depending on traffic, head towards Marple or Otterton, depending on which turn off, A627 to Bredbury, then onto M60, then M66 to Bury. This route avoids stockport and Mottram.

Does the absence of our Bury supporting visitors on here signal apprehension for them tonight.

When you get to Hazel Grove (the main traffic light junction where the big black and white pub is on the left),go straight through the t/lights and take your first right to Bredbury.Follow signs for M60 (junction 25) at the 2nd roundabout take 2nd exit onto M60 and follow signs to Bury. (about 12 mls away).
Going this way you miss the Trafford Centre, We must win tonight I don't want to see my relatives over there with smiling faces at the end of the game.

I'm sure the Captain had your best interests at heart. It wouldn't be the sea voyage that concerned him but the thought of the train journey once you were back in Blightie. Enjoy from a distance mate and thanks for helping to look after our interests all those miles away.

Came back over Woodhead, a bit strange how there was loads of snow going, but none at all on roadside coming back - didn't expect there to be that much difference, but obviously couldn't see the surrounding areas cos it was a bit dark.
