One of the drawbacks of disliking Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday is that, when you want to insult the both of them in a post, it's such a lot to type. I'm no fan of "textspeak" but I do feel the need, sometimes, for a collective noun, if you like, for the pair of them.

The Rangers crisis set me thinking, when I saw mention of The Old Firm, and that reminded me that Aberdeen and Dundee Utd were briefly known as The New Firm. Working on that footing, I've a suggestion to make:

Celtic & Rangers: The Old Firm.
Aberdeen & Dundee United: The New Firm.
United & Wednesday?

The Infirm.

Much quicker to type, and wholly appropriate.

Sounds good to me Stu, though I'm sure there will be plenty more suggestion. Some of them may even sneak past the board's swear filter.

I read an article the other day on the modern WC ....

So I propose the "dual flush"

They have both gone down the pan recently ;)

I prefer "Dumb and Dumber". I'll let you decide which is which.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

You need to get out more

I do think dual flush isn't a bad shout it could just do with being a tiny bit more offensive and then it would be perfect.

An old Dee-Dar workmate of mine always referred to what we normal people called a mashing can, as a "duddly". Apparently quite commonplace in S. Yorks. Seems to fit the bill for me.
The Duddlies (I think there's a clue in the spelling1)

No. A mashing can, a steel, white enamelled vessel with a lid on the top that doubled as a cup,and a wire carrying handle. A must have partner with a steel snap tin.

Good, but you'll give the wrong impression of neighbourliness when you say that you wouldn't open the curtains to watch the Infirm if they were playing in your back garden !
Don't give me them lazy long ball blues!

Of course down the pit - where the water for tea would be boiled in the vessel itself, on a gas hob.
