They are reasonable attendances. What went wrong last year?

Danny Wilson pretty much lost control of the dressing room. Splits between players and allsorts. Naming no names but David Prutton appeared to lead a ex Leeeds Utd clique! Also last year before the season started we sold Gordon Greer who was our captain and failure to replace him will be cited by fans as a major reason for what happened over the next few months.

None of that this year. Tight knit set of players singing from the same hymn sheet and fighting for the common cause!

What would you say is the major reason for you problems this year??

Keepy your hair on there wee laddie ....

STFC V CTFC .... Us this year and you last year when both in league 2 ...

STFC - High - 12113
- Low - 6304
- Avg - 7866

CTFC - HIGH - 10089
- Low - 4801
- Avg - 6972

STFC average higher by pretty much a thousand and we need to take into account that our average is likely to increase as we still have our rivals in and around us at the top of the table yet to play at home.

STFC V CTFC ...... Us last year and you this year when we are both fighting at the bottom end of league 1 ...

STFC - High - 11087
- Low - 6912
- Avg - 8457

CTFC - High - 10089
- Low - 4801
- Avg - 6972

STFC average higher by 1500. Here we need to factor in the likelyhood Chesterfields crowd could fall in you position at the foot of league 1 continues.

While on the face of it 1000 and 1500 may not seem a great amount over a season over the duration of a season that is alot of pounds in turnover!

To be fair mate, I'm losing my hair anyway.....

I'm not gonna slate you for coming on here, I enjoy the banter, and at least you have provided some facts unlike the Millers that come on here.

I intimated that your support would be slightly higher, the fact you have no larger clubs on your doorstep, and you seem to be a larger 'Town' than Chesterfield.

1000/1500 hardly makes you massive when compared to us. We're both relatively small places, who have a football club in residence, and we've both encountered relatively little success in our existence. Just accept the fact you're a similar size club to ourselves. It's just we're in a higher division. (for now ;))

I think swindon will win, fair play little chesty for making it all the way to the final. Its a classic final one big club with history and massive support, one plucky little town having a day out with a drum

There are two kinds of people.. those who are Spireites, and there are those, who wish they were.

Ah, it seems I was too quick to shower you with praise about your facts. How strange that our attendances this season are exactly the same as last! Who'd have thunk it? And it's CFC by the way.

In essense, we are two clubs of similar size (though we are bigger than you) .... With one major problem ....

Yes we have no clubs near us, but Swindon is full of young kids in their Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs shirts who rather than coming to the County Ground and watching us take the train into London and as such the support we have these days is largely made up of kids who have had Swindon slapped into them through a Swindon fan parent. I am guessing Chesterfield is the same and kids can easily get to any number of Premier League grounds.

This isnt a Chesterfield/Swindon problem, just a wider issue ...

Yes on the 25th we will have around 25k at Wembley, but most wont have known a club existed in the town prior to there being a trip to Wembley in it for them.

It will be a terrific day and yes I expect us to win. Chesterfield fans can label that as me being arrogant if you so wish, but

Your right 1000 isnt a large number in the general scheme of things however ... 1000 people, 23 games, at £20 a head is £460,000. Now is a serious amount of turnover that I suspect could get you 3/4 new players especially at league 1/2 level where a clubs are restricted to spending a fixed proportion of their turnover on players salaries.

Yes on the 25th we will have around 25k at Wembley, but most wont have known a club existed in the town prior to there being a trip to Wembley in it for them.

It will be a terrific day and yes I expect us to win. Chesterfield fans can label that as me being arrogant if you so wish, but I dont watch my fottball team ever expecting them to lose and doubt any other real football fan does.

Not arrogant mate, results breed confidence, and if the roles where reversed and this game would have occurred last season when our clubs positions were basically swapped around, I'd have expected us to turn you over.

Think you might be in for a shock though mate.

Good for you - see you there BUT ask your LB about little 'ol 'Chesterfield - ask him about his memories of that 5-0 drubbing.

Calling us CTFC may be a good omen, the commentator on the Bury 95' play off final kept referring to us as Chesterfield Town, or was it United, either way, he was a bit of a plonker like you.

Do we do this? I'm not a loser so I don't go on other club's message boards so do we go on their forum and post illiterate garbage? Or do we simply attract all the morons who want to prove how 'massive' they are?
