Charlton manager Chris Powell is waiting for a phone call from CFC around lunchtime Friday before they set off. Does that mean there is a pitch inspection around noon? If so why no mention on our official site ?

Its going to come tonight thats for sure; though it has given it a bit milder for the weekend, though with them coming from London it'll probably be off by then.

As I look out the window the sleet has turned to light snow. I suppose it's a case of letting him know whether or not there's a foot of snow on it, rather than having a formal inspection as such.

The purpose of publicising any formal inspection would be to allow supporters to make an informed decision about whether to risk setting off, or not, before the inspection takes place. Would anyone be put off travelling by the news that there was to be an inspection twenty-seven hours before the kick-off? No, because only the Tokyo Spireites would start their journey that early.

So long as we don't get a lot overnight, and if temperatures are above freezing on Friday and Saturday, them I expect it'd stand a good chance of thawing before the match.

In the time it has taken me to type this, it appears to have stopped.

Hang on - it's started again.

I spoke to Jamie Hewitt earlier, had an interesting conversation about the antiques roadshow then I asked if it was on (obviously I meant the Charlton game), he said it's on sunday.

Weather forecast for w/e on EM weather was a high of 1 degree on Saturday followed by a high of 4 for Sunday.

As I understand it - the visiting club checks with the home club prior to travelling - if the visitors get the ok to proceed and the match is subsequently postponed they can recoup their travelling expenses from the home club.
