It might have been Northampton thinking about it, I can't really remember but something tells me Mansfield area wise or population is one of the biggest towns along with Halifax is and rotherscum but no 1 will admit on a census to living in Rotherham

Something still stands out why Mansfield and Swindon were classed as the biggest for some reason I think it might be area wise incorporating all the surrounding areas.

I always thought Mansfield's claim to fame was being the biggest town in England without a train station... until they re-opened the station. Idiots! :D

You're not comparing like with like there. The Chesterfield figure you quote is for the borough, Mansfield's for the district is 98,181.
