What if someone made a similar allegation against some of the more presentable players in the England squad, either with or without foundation. Would it be fair for the like of Hart, Parker, Wilshire etc to be suspended from playing on the basis of an unproven allegation ?

Furthermore if Terry had been suspended from playing & the charge is not proven or overruled by the European Court. The FA would be faced with a bill running into millions for loss of earnings. I appreciate the principles, but wouldn't the FA be better spending that money on something else.

He's an over the hill has been, he is not worth his place with or without the captaincy. Hes a footballer and as such he is nothing important.

terry and cahill would by far be the best 2 cb we could have on the pitch no matter what anyone thinks of him personally. rio hasnt been any good since he failed.. i mean forgot to do a drugs test. and there is no one else anywhere near.

back to your previous post yes there are innocent people held on remand but generally remand is for the most serious of accusations with the intent of protecting the public or a previous history of absconding, and in no way have a life in prison like a convicted criminal.
what the US has to do with UK law i dont know.

Agreed, Cahill, Jagielka and even Lescott are better than the racist one!

Best not to say anything on this subject in this country as it is at the present time.

The way things stand you could get locked up for saying that tomorrow is going to be cold and sunny.

God ,I've said it !!

Who do people think should replace Capello as England manager? The main name I've heard touted is Harry Redknapp, but I'm not sure; aside from the fact he's getting on in years now, there's this court case business that may cast a shadow over the remaining years of his career. Must say he's done brilliant at Tottenham though.

Not sure if Harry would want it yet, he still has something to prove in the domestic game - though he is by far the best English Manager in the Premiership and should the next manager be English then it has to be him.

More over I think he is in a minority of English Managers in the Prem. There's only 3 as far as I can see, 'Arry, Alan Pardew & Roy Hodgeson. 6 Scots, 4 Irish/Ulster, 2 Welsh, 1 Italian, 1 Spaniard, 1 Dutch, 1 French and 1 Portugese make up the rest.

Has anybody else wondered if Capello is deiberately trying to get himself 'released' from his job, along with a hefty pay-off? Perhaps he doesn't think we'll do very well this summer and would rather go now and thus avoid the blame for yet another failure by our national team at our national sport?

Alternatively, maybe he is simply reminding the faceless FA officials that he is the manager, and he alone should be picking both the team and the captain?

Either way, the fact that the two sides are, in effect, arguing in public doesn't look too good.

He popped into my head too...think he's probably the best manager in the Premier League (other than Fergie, though it pains me to admit it). Would he want the job though? I dont know why he would to be fair. I'll be honest though, as chap who supports Ireland rather than England, I wouldn't think that giving the job to some unproven playing legend would be a good idea. There has been talk of Shearer in the past but if the tenure and subsequent managerial career of Steve Staunton is anything to go by, it's a path best avoided!

John Terry.

He's not a pleasant chap, his previous escapades highlight that fact. With regard to his selection for England I don't think he should be considered simply because I don't think he is good enough. He comes from that generation of England footballers who have never quite settled, who are not as good as they think they are and who have let the English football fan down badly.

what great job he did at newcastle in his only foray into management. hence why he's on motd (maybe the ££ help)

it will probably go to pearce and a name, ie beckham etc. dont mind pearce to be honest he bleeds red and white unlike many of the pre madonnas currently picked to wear the shirt, passion is something severley lacking on the field when England play.

That's true, they're so lacking in passion I'm English yet I don't consider them my national team.

Hopefully a Harry Redknapp or a Roy Hodgson can instill some national pride. I would even like to see Venables back for another spell, he and the late Sir Bobby were the two greatest England managers of my generation. But Tel is pretty much retired now, is he not?

not at all, you must not understand what it means

if you think calling someone a black bas***d is as bad as what i've just written (or, indeed, on the same level) then i don't think there's a gif appropriate

Considering that the FA sacked him for similar to what 'arry is accused of that's highly unlikely!

I'd give it Gus Hiddink or someone. Theres a good reason that the top clubs dont appoint English managaers; that being they want their sides to succeed. He aint English but Hughes got the job at Man City & was light years off the pace, Redknapps doing ok but 3rd is realisticially as good as it will get for him.

Ferguson, Wenger, Mancini have all got much more impressive CV's than their English counterparts. Up and coming guys like AVB & even established managers like Hiddink & Errikson have all shown a willingness to travel & learn. All we get is two banks of four & "show some passion." It gets found out at the highest level.
