What the hell has that got to do with the debate on who is the better all round player? Griff's not here,I'm disappointed, but from Smith's performances so far, until the last 4 games Smithy wasn't looking a good bet. Hasland, how can you say you can't remember Smith being beaten, when until recently, both fullbacks were failing to stop numerous crosses and we were shipping in loads of crosses which Tommy and the centrebacks failed to deal with.Since Grounds has arrived Smithy has started to look the part and has stopped faffing about around our box.Good luck to Smithy, I've always backed him in the Blue shirt but until recently he gave me kittens.

Look at the man in front of him, against Preston (for example) Smith was having to deal with both Preston's right winger and right back because Whitaker was constantly playing centre mid as opposed to left mid. Strange that he's been scaring you because he's not scared me yet bar at Tranmere when he admittedly messed about in the box with the ball and we were nearly punished. People don't go round him and he's similar to Mendy in the way that his lanky legs manage to wrap themselves around the ball and win it time after time. You can see (well, I and most others can see) why Yeovil fans were gutted to lose him. Great signing by Sheridan and a much better option than paying £100,000+ for Griffiths who is a good full back... but there's a reason he's playing for a League 2 team ;)

The thread invited debate on the relative merits.

Griff is the better and more complete player.

Others have a different view.

But that's not debate, it's just your opinion. On what basis do you think Griffiths is the better player? How does he compare to Smith in terms of reading the game, pace, stamina, tackling, heading, passing, strength etc?
If nothing acts faster than anadin, why do we buy anadin?

Also how does he compare to Smith in terms of keeping his position and also with his distribution.

He's at the opposite end of the scale on both scores there.

Steve Evans - I wonder who he might have been referring to?

"We were decimated for a couple of weeks, and the numpties and the nuggets up and down the country wrote us off. But we refused to listen to them and knew what was right and what was wrong".

Huh? What relevance does that have to Smith or Griffiths?

Josh - Some on this Board managed to blame Griff for single handely turning Crawley's form into crap. Their manager illustrates the real reason and the way he has chosen to do it made me laugh and think about some of the posts re the Smith v Griff issue.

Griff remains the better player and will no doubt be at the b2net (if not higher) next season.

Did Smith have a good game on Saturday?

smith plays for us, griffiths doesnt.

I don't think anyone blamed Griffiths for making Crawley bad and I don't think Evans is referring to that at all. Maybe they said he contributed to it which would be fair as he was in the team when they were tonked 6-0 by Morecambe and a lot of those goals came from his side.

Smith didn't do great on Saturday, I'd say it was his worst game for us. Ford and Fleming also had stinkers as did Johnson. We played a tough team who won't be in this division next season, lets move on.

If not higher? You think Griffiths will be in the Championship then?

The movement of the Charlton forwards + Jonnie Jackson in midfield. That and the fact we were very susceptible to set pieces and have been all season.

JJ was attracting alot of attention so far this season. Didn't we go man to man on him? They did appear to have plenty of pace and movement. Set pieces agreed + ours don't seem to have improved very much

Exactly. They are a good side - as well as town played in the second half we were beaten by a better side on the day.

IMO we didnt do that much wrong, and against `average` league one sides a performance like that would have seen CFC come away with something.
