It sounds as though your not either.lol.

when the only other person who is taking the same line as you, is RPL, you know you got it a bit wrong.

Anyhow, if you think £150 spent on Griff is bettervalue to the squad than £150k to spend elsewhere and Smith in the side your beyond help.....

I also think JS knows better than we do in terms of player worth....what does he think?

hes gone, get over it & move on.

I would be more than happy if Griffiths was our fullback but I think Smith is the better particulary as he was free. But some on here will be claiming Griffiths was rubbish if this discussion goes on much longer

Smith is getting better each game he plays for us. He's a better defender than Griffiths and I think in the next few games he will show he is a s good (if not better) going forward too.
If only....

At the moment your both talking crap,Smithy is beginning to at last show he has class, but still faffs about too much around the box in some games.Like I said I gave him motm yesterday and I hope he plays many more games like it,I'll back him all the way but I can't understand a few prats on here who say Griff.can't cut the mustard in this league based on one crap performance against Crewe.

Nah I'm not talking crap, I'm just a good judge of player and could tell from Smith's first game that he was better than Griffiths, he is twice the defender and is now showing he can get forward (fantastic ball for Westcarr's header on Saturday). I don't think I've actually seen anyone get round him and get a cross in yet.

I personally think Griffiths would've been okay in League 1 but I can see why others don't, we got a player on a free who is better (imo) whereas Griffiths would've cost over £100,000 if you believe what you read on here. And for the record he had more than one bad game for us. Decent player though.

Griff was a top player and a very nice guy too. I'd have been more than happy to have seen him back here but that shouldn't detract from the fact that Smith looks to be the better option both financially and in playing terms.

You pick out 1 performance. That about says it all. Those of us who know a player when we see one reflect on the majority of truly excellent performance put in by Griff including the big one on the last day.

Just one that had already been mentioned but was two awful bits of defending and he had other ordinary games as well. I'm not saying he is crap just that i dont believe him to be some superstar left back and someone we should have forked out £150k on and in Smith we have a very good left back on a free transfer allowing us to make more use of the budget available. Think it says a lot more about your player knowledge when you rate him so highly but he cant get a game in the last 2 or 3 years any higher than League 2!! To be honest after he signed initially i was looking forward to seeing this wonder left back we'd signed but when i finally got a chance i wasnt actually sure what all the fuss was about. He was a solid league 2 full back but nothing else!!

Also all this talk of committment to the club being repaid is pointless as well...if that were the case we'd have kept the likes of Breckin etc. Unfortunately football doesnt allow for sentiment and keeping players cos they did ok. I'm sure if Sheridan really wanted him he would have signed him as he was obviously available but he felt Smith was a better option and at the end of the day you can spout all you want but his opinion is all that matters.

From my first viewings of Smith i feel he has better attributes to be a better full back than Griffiths and thats probably backed up by Smith being sought after by league 1 clubs whilst Griffiths had to wait ages to get a chance of playing in league 2 again despite him being circulated for transfer early in the summer.

really?? i find that hard to believe..
Listing the merits of both Smith and Griffiths is hard to do... based on the fact that Griff would have cost probably six figures and Smith was free, its a no brainer...... but Griff was fab for us and his attitude towards the game
helped to galvanise us....I would have been happy with him, but not to be..Im happy indeed with what we have.

Incidentally, in terms of how fortunes differ, interesting Mark Little gets a regular berth at Posh, in comparison to Griffiths..... considering how they were considered whilst here....

Not a surprise for me, I thought Little was a good player and would play at a higher level.

Its a nice thought but its not like that any more.....both players and clubs now work along the lines of getting the best deal they can. Why pay £150k for someone if the same, if not better is available for free allowing the £150k to be spent elsewhere. Based on what i saw i would like us to add those three you mention to the club permanently but there are a lot of things that need to happen for it be done and unfortunately us wanting and affording them is not top of the list and the four things you mention are even further down the list.

In this day and age good use of the loan market is a key factor for lower league clubs and its not always with an eye on players eventually being added on a permanent basis. Sometimes its just to get players in to give the club a boost or cover on a short term basis and from the parents club with a view to getting someone a few games for fitness and\or experience.
