if thats true, they are insane. A league 2 side paying 6k a week!!!!!

Yet folk wonder how clubs end up in the state of Plymouth Argyle.
A new hope.

when you see figures like that bandied around you understand why we had difficulty getting a centre forward in this summer

Apparently the government are recruiting 200 new staff to chase businesses/folks who are avoiding paying their bills.
God I hate this league.

I was told the same saturday night from a good source thats why his agent chose Swindon over us and now he is here Swindon are paying 2k towards his wages, but at 5 golas in 3 games he is currently worth it.On a more serious note that is oneof the main reasons we have struggled to sign a striker in the summer and thats what Donaldson got for going to Brentford.

Surely, although his agent will have strongly advised him, it was his decision to choose who he signed for, not his agents?

And technically, Swindon will be paying his wages in full still, as they are still his employers. If the figures banded about are correct, we will be paying them an amount of money his services (which the above seems to suggest would equate to about £16k a month)

I bet Swindon's chairman was really happy with his manager, he's cost them a fortune with his little spat - not that I'm complaining :)

well, they are getting a sizeable contribution to his wages now so they have gained from it so maybe the chairman is happier??

So. Correct me if I'm wrong here. But. We went for him in the summer and he ended up going to a lower league club who paid him more,
He's had a bust up with the manager and come to us where he's banging the goals in.
What's to say that in January somebody isn't gonna go in for him, pay him more wages and he goes there.
Chase the money again.
What happens then, do we wait for another bust up?
Do we get the mother of all money chasers back from Barnsley?
Do we ensure that we get our man hook or by crook?
Or do we end up back at square one again?
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Ignoring your, fankly, stupid comment about Davies, my take on the situation is as follows:

Clarke has come here with the bit between his teeth, desperate to prove a point to Di Canio (mainly).

Di Canio has said he will never play for Swindon again whilst he is manager (i.m not convinced that will be too long a period either).

Swindon, if they do decide to cash in on him come January, will be in no rush to open up negotiation with anyone. They will be happy to have him here, banging the goals in, rubber stamping his value and ability, whilst they get the large chunk of his wages paid for by us. Once his first month is up (31 days) then a 24 hour recall clause can be inserted so IF things change then he could be called back (although its not been communicated if such a clause has been included or not at this stage).

One thing is for sure, if he continues his current form for the rest of his time here, clubs will be queueing up to sign him come january and a striker in form in the January window is worth his weight in gold!

If he does carry on like he has and reaches 12+ goals by December, someone could pick him up for a month (December)(not us cos he will have reached his 3 month limit) and he could well start a bidding war and go for £500k!

I think we need to enjoy him while he's here, and see what happens come December/January!

Not wanting to sound like RPL, but anyone who thinks that proven goalscorers in this league come for less than 4K a week is living in cloud cuckoo land (not having a go at you personally Rodders).

Agree with your point, but Leon's record hardly qualifies him in the "Proven Goalscorer at this level" catergory.
