What's thr crux (for those who don't have SP)?

Di Canio - delighted to get him, good size, good player, can score in a different manner, good pace, left foot, right foot,a centre forward but can run everywhere because he's not heavy, good physical presence, techinically very good, sharp, a player we search, I'm excited and very happy.

Chairman - Worked hard to get him, statement of intent to get a player from a premiership club

How do you mean, Jon?

Just the stories you heard about him...didnt seem overly keen on the training involved, was always in town at a weekend etc and didnt appear to like the pressure of it all. I think Mark Jones knew him well at the time and seemed to suggest he preferred the less pressure and lower profile of working during the week and playing with mates at the weekend although i apologise if thats not the case..it was a while ago! Shame as there was a player in there somewhere but it still needed a hell of a lot of work to be something that would go on to be sold for money.

Maybe it had something to do with his heroin addiction....he may have thought it might have tempted him back into that world.

On the flip side of that argument are Shane Nicholson & Jamie Burt, both of whom had chequered pasts before joining the beloved Town.

You get the feeling their chairman feels a bit sorry for Clarke and the fact they haven't disciplined him suggests it wasn't all one way.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

One is gnawed by the feeling that Mr. Clarke's tenure at Swindon may well last beyond that of Sr. DiCanio.

havent disciplined him?what more can they do than tell him he cant ever play for them again.I dont think you can give out more discipline to a player than that.
ITS NOT THE WINNING,ITS THE TAKING APART

I get the impression its more Di Canio refusing to pick him whilst he is manager and trying to give some impression that he has everything under control. The big test would be if\when Di Canio goes and if Clarke is still there.

They could have fined him and all sorts, they could have even sacked him. The fact that they didnt do any of this is telling imho.

When he first played I personally thought he was awesome and looked like a world beater. Power, pace and knew where the goal was. I genuinely thought we had someone who would end up moving on for a lot of money. I'm still not sure what went wrong there.

Being a pro footballer is much more than just talent and skill. its also mental strength attitude and dedication.
A new hope.

I wonder if there is a deal to be had - similar to the one D+R did with Currie?

It might be worth our while pushing for it sooner rather than later- will Di Canio last till january?
A new hope.

Worth sitting through the ad for.

Let's hope Leon ramma de wordz downa throat

Below is my Owls supporting cousin's view of Clarke.....

Leon Clarke to Chesterfield (possibly)!! Hmm, a real mixed bag. Talent and power versus horrendous attitude and prone to switch off constantly in games. Typical Clarke when he scored for the Owls against Palace in our must win game then celebrated by kicking the advertising boards, damaged his foot and came off injured. Not the sharpest tool in the box! Another player whose brain and behaviour doesn't tally with his potential. 50% trouble, 20% angel and 30% nightmare IMHO. In your situation I don't think you have the option of anyone else of his (potential) quality. Nailed on to score at Hillsborough (then get sent off)!

As he actually signed yet,i can't find anything on official site......?

Im still convinced it was down to him waering contact lenses. I remember at the time the manager (Rushbury?) worked out that he couldnt see very well even though he was playing really well. He then got him some contact lenses and as soon as he could see he started playing rubbishly.

Di Canio wasnt total blameless inthe "scuffle" got hold of the back of his neck pulling him about and although the bit down the tunnel is a little masked both seemed over involved. Clarke needs to ram it back down his throat with goals now lets hope he gets an hat trick saturday
