makes you wonder whether Di Canio is implying he was tapped up by somebody. It would be interesting to know how they stand with his contract. Clarke could presumably just sit on it for 2 years but if DC says he will never play again, they must be thinking of paying him off - that's a heap load of cash.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

i will take di canios word over clarkes every day of the week,i dont agree with a lot of things di canio has done but as a proffesional footballer,he was always 100% fit, a great trainer and tecnically gifted, the difference is leon clarke thinks he is a good footballer.

Not sure the fact that he is a great trainer and a decent player is any reason to believe one over the other. Lets not forget Di Canios shoving the ref and his nazi salute so he's done some interesting things in his career as well.

I think the best thing we can do as fans is to take Clarke as we find him in a blue CFC shirt not whats happened before based on heresay.

And not forgetting his alleged refusal to play in away matches whilst at West Ham (I'm sure Come On You Irons can confirm or deny this)

Is it the sign of a good manager though ? going public like this, signing a player without being satisfied he can manage him, manhandling him from the pitch in front of the camera's.

What was the fitness coach doing going up to him immediately after the game whilst in public view on the pitch in the first place, action which PDC defends, any such discussion should have been done behind closed doors.

The Swindon management team look the unprofessional ones

I agree....people do stupid things in their lives, all of us at some point; footballers are just more accountable due to their status. If he has a decent attitude, plays ok for us and puts in the effort, i'll be happy with that.

He's certainly a better acquisition than what was touted on here at one point, Lee Hughes; one has to draw the line at some point; that guy should hang his head every time he scores a goal, not prance about like a carless moron; if he'd have ended up playing for Town i don't think i could have attended.

Something that was very close to happening from what i was told....almost to the point that he was on route to sign for us when County came in with a silly wage offer and he headed there instead.

He expressed a desire to leave prior to this incident to another member of the management team (presumably the fitness coach) who didn't tell Di Canio, I'm sure he would if he suspected he was being tapped up and it wasn't frustration at being worked hard in training.

For Di Canio to try and state Clarke engineered the situation when the fitness coach was giving it large on the pitch and Di Canio was manhandling him is a bit rich to say the least.

On the flip side of that argument are Shane Nicholson & Jamie Burt, both of whom had chequered pasts before joining the beloved Town.

When he first played I personally thought he was awesome and looked like a world beater. Power, pace and knew where the goal was. I genuinely thought we had someone who would end up moving on for a lot of money. I'm still not sure what went wrong there.

It seemed to be Burts reluctance to do the work needed to be a pro as much as anything else.
