Why hasn,t he "hardly played in the last 4 years"? Injuries or not good enough to get into team?

By "hardly ever" he managed 21 games last season, 37 games the season before that, 30 games in 08/09 and 26 in 07/08.

This chaps got to be worth a chance.

Now we just need the other striker signing before Saturday and I fancy 3 pts

Lee

Talbot Ford Grounds Smith

Westcarr Johnson or Randall Mattis Mendy

Clarke New Striker

I just about agree with that line up rob, however I'm unsure if Mattis will be fit.

Question - would you bring another striker in now for 1 month, then another one in a months time for 3 months, or would you wait a couple of weeks then sign one?

I'd go with the second option, and have mendy on the right, Morgan left, westcarr and Clarke up top.

He may have an 'attitude' but he also has a sense of humour

his goals 'return' when on loan at Oldham was pretty good too - another one that JS can get the best out of?

Well spotted. A literate footballer with a sense of humour and not afraid to laugh at himself. Don't know how that'll go down in the dressing room, but interesting times ahead for JS, I think.

I groaned when I read this but I guess any striker is better than no striker. I seen him play at wolves when he was a youngster, as one half of my family comes from wolverhampton, and he had such potential then but he wasted it. We need a bit of team spirit at the minute to get us through this difficult patch but his attitude stinks to high heaven which is not what we need.

If he is coming I hope to god he proves me wrong and I see him realise some of that potential he had at wolves but on current form I'm not convinced he is our answer.

Yes but the last eighteen months or so have revealed that players who have played under Sheridan before, don't have a problem in doing so again

I totally agree. What's more no one can doubt the team spirit evident last season. That's why i simply don't buy the rumours relating to players snubbing us because of the Manager. It has to be something else.

Absolutely. This though is slightly different as we're dealing with a player with no future at his club possibly going up a division. Negotiations should be minimal as far as CFC are concerned.

 With him only 2 weeks into a 2 year contract may mean otherwise. If he is successfull with us they'll want to cash in on a permanent move.

quality signing.

Di canio has said he will NEVER pick him again, well hopefully he'll come here score/create some goal and prove a point then come january he's our permanantly.

the goals will come now, just still could do with just 1 more striker.

 Desparate for a quality striker before Jack's injury, now we need two.Clarke is available with Di Canio vowing never to play him again.93 day loan could turn into something permanent if it turns out it's suits all parties.

alledgedly, clarke came back from injury at wednesday and was asked to play in a reserve game or something similar which he took a disslike too as alledgedly his opinion is im leon clarke i dont do reserve games on entering the dressing room the story i have been told is that clarke asked what was hanging on the peg,it was a long sleeved football shirt, clarke evidently kicked off to a member of the wednesday staff before chopping the arms off with a pair of scissors on returning to the club clarke was confronted by laws who asked him to pay for the damaged shirt ,clarke refused and the rest alledgedly is history.I have heard he is lazy arrogant and a complete muppet.I think signing a man of this stock just shows how desperate as a club and how pathetic our pre season preperations have been. His signing will make or completely break our season can we afford to gamble on such players?

Put simply. Yes! Just because he may of been disruptive elsewhere, does'nt mean he will be here. This is the signing 90% of this board has been calling out for. Gamble? Yes. Bold or stupid? Only time will tell, but certainly worth the risk.
