P.S. There was a second man on the “grassy knoll”, aliens are amongst us, the moon landing were faked and the board are conspiring against us!

I want to believe!

JS's desire to improve things has prevented him from signing anyone who wouldn't clearly do that; while it is possible to applaud Bury for moving swiftly to relace Lowe with Harrad, we'll see whether that's strengthened them or not in a few weeks. We might have moved in May to get Ross Hannah, say, to wear the number nine, but would he have replaced Davies, much less improve on him?
Even though we've gone past the point where JS has had to lower his standards a bit, I still expect Mendy and Westcarr to contribute their share, but I'll have a better idea about how much after Saturday, I hope.

Nearly six and a half grand a week for donaldson!!!!
No, He isn't worth that.
The other players going to other clubs to beat our deals, smacks of the players or their agent's simply using us a yardstick to get more more cash out of the other teams without any intention of signing for us.

Then my maths is wrong - I heard they were paying him about 4.5k pw. Still a good one and a bit more than we agreed with him. How much does that make it per year? Quarter of a million, ish?

Hasn't BH been quoted saying we are better off near top of L2 than bottom of L1

With that philosophy ... Where's the ambition and "Plan"

Several people have explained this, including the CFSS vice chair - money is available for high league on salaries(in CFC terms), still to be used from the budget, however our targeted players have gone elsewhere for higher offers.
If that has not sunk in yet - well then its obvious that something is not right............

Where is the ambition? Good question and one we have been asking for years. I have been supporting this lot for over 45 years now and in that time I have seen just 5 promotions, all from what is ostensibly division 4 to divison 3. Now that doesn't seem a great deal to me, because it also means I have seen just as many relegations to go with it. Lets be honest here, 1 promotion every 9 years (because thats what it works out at) isn't a lot to get excited about. At this rate I'll be 63 before I see my next one and we'll have to have gone down to division 4 before I actually see it!
I think, as supporters, we have a right to expect a little more from our club. We may well agree that we can't live with the big boys in the premiership, those days are long gone - but one season in a division higher than this would be nice, hells bells even the scabs managed that!
I'm not what one would call a 'negative, moaning fan' but equally my head isn't firmly entrenched in the sand to notice that we haven't actually done right by the supporters this season. Just saying "Shez will make it right in the end" doesn't necessarily make it so. To be honest I find events a little disturbing because, come to think of it, I cannot ever remember a Chesterfield side that has looked so out of depth once it has been promoted.
Hopefully the manager will get the breaks - hopefully the footballers will come here, but one things for sure - those who said that our new facilities would be a big draw for players are way off mark, I think we can safely say that if you pay them they will come. They don't actually care whether its Saltergate or a state of the art ground - if the money is in the bank then they are happy.
Perhaps I need to get a new hobby!
