Every rule has the occassional exception. In the end though like ,arkets the model is the model. Lets hope your right and we conform before the first ball of the new season is kicked/ Not sure if I've asked you before but do you expect CFC to convert the policy that you say exists into fees paid?

I've never said we've got a policy, just a manager who has got a budget that he's not grumbling about and the delegated responsibility to spend it how he likes. There is no formula (model) for guaranteed success in football.

If the manager thinks a player is worth it he'll stump up the funds regardless of if that involves a fee or not.

Dunno, not a question we as fans can answer, if he doesn't pay a fee it doesn't mean he's adhering to club policy as you repeatedly state, just that the asking price for said player(s) is too high .

In this day and age and freedom of contract even the players on "frees" if they are any good will be demanding big signing on fees. Nowadays instead of the club paying another club a transfer fee the players pocket it, with a slice for the agent.

To think some people believe we could sign a player like Donaldson without significant money being paid to sign on and then wages/bonus/perks is stupid. The fees might not be upfront but look at the lad from Yeovil, given they reckon they offered him way more than they usually do to stay, we must have offered a fair wedge to get him up here.

the market rate is the overall cost of the player, it's not the 70's anymore. Good players let their contract expire because they are confident they can get picked up and get a decent wedge knowing the new club is not paying a fee. It's sad for the game as a whole as the money is going out of it, but this the market post Bosman.

Oh for f***s sake the only difference between fees and frees is that fees are only fees because they are still under contract to their club or under 24.
That's it, full stop, it doesn't make them better players.
You Mr R2 can't stand Allott and yet if another club wanted to sign him they would have to pay a fee for him as he's under contract. Your love child Randall however is available for diddly squat. How's that fit into your theory?
I said I wouldn't respond to any more of this drivel and yet I have. I'm ashamed of myself and this will definetley be the last time.

I know how you feel. This constant repeating of the same ridiculous nonsense is doing my head in & I'm staying out of it. It wouldn't matter so much if at least a little of what he spouted made sense, but alas, it doesn't. The man is an utterly intolerable, trolling bore who is going to drive alot of people away from this board before long.

So back on track.

Are we any closer to signing Donaldson, it seems to have gone rather quiet.
A new hope.

The lad Grimes is out of the equation - he's signing for Dale today.
