Barnes- undisclosed thought to be 60-100k
That's the core squad that got us promoted unless I've missed somebody out?
I make that Poyet only spent around 650k on the team that played regularly and got us up.
Obviously Bennett and Murray who contributed massively arrived pre-Poyet did command fees

Someone may well correct me, but I think the only player to cost was Marc Pugh, who was u24 this time last year when he moved from Hereford. Interestingly the tribunal came up with a fee of £100k (after certain milestones) - which caused fury at the Cherries.

it's not all about resources when you look at the teams who finished just below Bournemouth within 3 points of the play offs

JDogg - ask yourself this. CFC couldn't afford to keep a 25 goal a season striker in his mid 20's because of competition from Championship clubs. HOWEVER, we can afford a 28 goal a season striker who is 27 going on 28. Now I wonder why that is? Can we now match Championship wages? Or is it that his track record thus far, and relatively late in his career, suggests he's a good lower league striker.
I look forward to receiving further words of wisdom and enlightenment.
Well first of all i was just replying to your "spring chicken" comment which is complete garbage as most players harn't even in their prime till their very late 20's!
Now when it comes 2 Davies he was a free agent & top scorer of a championship winning side getting pretty much most of the lime light from papers & tv while Donaldson being top scorer in a mid table side struggling kinda went under the radar cos of Crewe's poor league position. Davies could pretty much ask for what he wanted & probably got it but thats not to say we offered him chicken feed we just cant offer Championship football if we ain't in that league.
Out of the 4 top scorer i'd say Donaldson got the least press behind Davies, Lowe & Alf & he was top scorer. Some players for whatever reason don't get looked at by bigger clubs, Le Fondra being prime example scoring over 90 goals in 3 years & still playing for Rotherham. Can you tell me for a fact a Championship club are in for him? No you can't! I'm guessing that if they were we miss out on him as well due to them being higher up the football ladder. That doesn't for 1 second make him not good enough for the Championship it just means that there's a lot more spending money in that league so they don't have to take risks on a lower league player.

Because Craig was in a team of Champions that got thrust in to the lime light.
Donaldson did it in midtable fodder.
A fan would even say that the second was more commendable, but clubs seem to enjoy hype around a player, as much as talent.

If I wanted to do that I wouldn't have posted it up, I didn't suggest the Brighton comparison. Bournemouth is relevant as they are a similar sized club, promoted just like us and finished in a position that would be an achievement for us next season.
How did you get on with the interview request from Radio Sheffield ?

Because none of us know anything, you can just make stuff up like you do. So I'd say Shez is willing to offer that bit more Donaldson cos overall he thinks he's a better player. Davis isn't what you keep calling a 25 goal a season striker, he has done it once in a very good side.
If Barnsley are going to rely on him and Lefondre if he goes there then they will be struggling. Unless Davis's first touch doesn't dramatically improve he isn't going to see much of the ball in that league

That last sentence doesn't make sense. Do you mean unless his first touch dramatically improves?

Sorry, just being my usual pedantic self. Think it was the unnecessary doesn't that threw me. Upon reading it again though it actually does make sense. Oh the English language, such a complex and yet still beautiful method of communication.

JDogg - in the end his agent will have made sure the Champ teams know all about him.
Ernie Ernie Ernie - what am amazing peice of revisionism - suddenly Davies is a freak show one-off and Donaldson is better and JS will go the extra mile as opposed to keep CD! I wonder how many board members buy this?

If the model is proven how come we won the league without adhering to it ?

Nobody is supposed to buy it. It was a post of fiction to match most of yours. You don't have a monopoly on posting garbage although of late you have a very high percentage of posts that would lead many to think otherwise. Most of the time it isn't clever, it certainly isn't funny and most of the time it's just plain boring.
To make a point once is fine to make the same points hundreds of times is bordering on ridiculous and you are killing the message board
