Johnnyspireite7 - I think you'll find I started a thread along the lines "it has to be Donaldson" - Why? Bacause he appears to be the only free with a proven track record that is unlikely to be very interesting to Champ clubs. Despite one other post you normally have made it by 27/28 - me thinks he will need to prove himself in L1. This way we free shed loads of money to bring in a striking partner.

Fishini - just reflecting on what posters think the fallback will be if Donaldson's agent takes him elsewhere - not negative just wondering on the contingency plan. Never a good idea for Plan B to be that Plan A works/

How on Earth do you know he's the only free striker available? Do you have no faith in JS at all? JS will have numerous players on his radar but only at a price he thinks is ok. We won the league last season how many players did we buy?

We don't have to buy players to win the league next season, we can win it with what we have if jack players every week

Fishini - the task gets harder the higher we fly. There is no doubt that JS played a blinder with CD! BUT do you really think JS can keep finding 20-30 goal strikers that are free/affordable? Thats why Donaldson appears to be the only serious option unless we are going to speculate on a player that has run off track (like Smalley), or one with injury issues ... etc etc. Its not a question of a lack of trust but do you really think JS would not want to be able to secure long term assets?

Shez protected Lester this past season, why would it be any different this season? Lester puts alot of energy into his play, Shez is getting the best from him. If he played every game he would probably knackered or injured and not even score 10 goals.

I asked for an explanation to why we can't win the league?

He's right mate; unless we get 5 more quality players signed up we are definitely not going up.

Simple answer, as i posted on a different thread, we don't have the strength in depth.

Hes got to play him against the dee dars home and away surely. Although he used him well last season I wish he'd have played from the start at Torquay. I'm sure we would have won it.

We currently have lester the king who will get 20 goals, and Bowery and Scott will step up to the mark with 30 between them

Lester, yes, but i have to disagree with you regarding those two, they weren't even league 2 class never mind league 1. We are severely short up front; Donaldson would be a superb acquisition.

I think it'd take a three year deal on good money to get Donaldson.

I hope so, mate, It must be very difficult for both of them and neither of them seem cocky like some of our previous recruits from the youth set up......i like boden, i can see potential in them both but if they don't get the opportunity to play they will never progress and step up to the mark...it's almost a catch 22 situation.

I agree, completely.....but...do we go for it or not? I think he'd be ideal for us in the Championship, so i see the 'gamble/investment' as worth it.
