Just talking to the Area Manager for Beer & Co Group, They have several Pubs in and around Derby, Burton and Chesterfield and the Police in Burton have recomended that all pubs within a certain distance of the ground to close until after 5pm.

They are not pleased about it and are seeking legal advice.

UPDATED : The Cosmo will be closed until 6pm on Saturday.

no. if they order any pub to shut theyd be liable to pay compensation to the landlords thats why its only a recommendation.

Correct but if anything kicked off, the the Pub is liable to foot the bill for Policing etc.

Why is there a need to close any pub,we are decent fans from Town don't class in the same vein as Vale or Grimsby, does any fan think there will be any serious trouble at Burton,I don't.So what if they beat us the other week and gave Davo plenty of verbal on the field. All every Town fan wants to see us getting revenge by reaching the third round. There will be a good, butelectric atmosphere from Blues fans, but surely no trouble.

Common sense ?

Should be quite easy for you to offer an explanation as to why the police has requested pubs not to open

if I can help quoting the number of fans travelling is not an explanation

Really lol,i think that is why the Bridge is leaving at 1pm so fans can have a drink and then go straight to the match, less complicated.....

I'M SURPRISED YOU DON'T GET YOUR PRE MATCH FILL AT THE BRIDGE - DON'T BE SURPRISED TO BE MET BY THE POLICE AND THEN GET CONVOYED STRAIGHT TO THE GROUND. TRAFFIC ON THE DAY WILL DICTATE IT TAKES YOU AN HOUR TO GET THERE I BET, LEAVING AT 1PM MAY NOT GIVE YOU TIME FOR 3 PEE STOPS AND A DRINK
God I hate this league.

I'm working in burton so will ask around if anyone knows where the exclusion stretches to. One option is to divert to stretton (right as you come off A38) and find a pub there and then head for ground... Or maybe come off at the Barton junction and head for the Marstons brewery end of town where the police may not be looking? Its a trip to ground after though...

It'll take an hour anyway, traffic will see to that!

Or if on the train get out in Derby and use the pubs around the station before getting back on. Derby at Burnley late kick off so should be relaxed enough.

Has anyone got an idea of a suitable pub for the Towns.....

Most Pubs are following the advice to close until 6pm BUT, they say the Police reclassified the Game as a Category ONE, game after the Home game with Burton. They are expecting trouble and means they legally take control of the Towns Pubs.

They have also passed on information from the Chesterfield Pub Watch Scheme for potential problem people.

It beggars belief that if they are expecting trouble, Why they haven't made it ALL TICKET

Friend in Burtons SAYS

Quote

there is one close to the ground, where the home fans get picked up on away days, there is also the Millhouse about 5 mins away. If you fancy a 5 min taxi ride into town you have a Weatherspoons, Cosmo, The Park, plus others, if you are travelling by coach and fancying a slight detour you could come off the A38 and pop into Etwall that has 2 pubs, just a 15 min drive from the ground.
