I went into the Donkey Derby after the Boro game and got talking to a guy that had'nt been for 10yrs+. He came to the Derby game and every game since...........
His words " I'm so glad I've come back, what a terrific stadium!, I'll bring my brother with me in two weeks. He's not bin for 10yrs either"
There's one or two lost souls out there coming back into the fold!!!!!!!! :)

Excellent post welcome back.

I feel the same. I only started picking and choosing games when rico took over....felt deflated at the blatent decline under" mr nice guy" and felt very strong that the club was dying a slow painful indignant death.

Feels different now. Even feel a pre-match buzz.

Great post mate....welcome back

agree and feel the same

I've been a bit pessamistic about the new ground and leaving Saltergate, but I proper loved it last night and can't wait til the next game

<hope I get a cold beer at the next game mind>

A lapsed colleague of mine is waxing lyrical and another looks set to go to the Hereford game. Three others went to the Barnet game and may go now and again - having never been before.

I was amazed at the atmosphere generated last night - never would have thought it possible in an all-seated stadium. I just hope the tolerance shown towards all the standing up fans at the back last night can carry on and people who are inconvenienced can be found alternative seating. With a bit of goodwill on all sides it should be possible.
I heard a lady of a certain age on the way out talking to somebody she knew - " First time I've ever been to a football match. Isn't it fantastic."

I`m just so happy that Mr Hubbards brought the feelgood factor to the club and thanks to his vision and insight we have a bright future to look forward to. I`m very optimistic about this season, even if we only finish 1 place higher than last season we`ll have all the excitement to look forward to, I hope we can keep the attendances up as well, the atmosphere at the B2Net is the best atmosphere in the football league, what a perfect place to celebrate our promotion party, uncle Barries licking his lips at the prospect of a victory parade to cement his status as the greatest chairman in the clubs history and the 1 who brought back so many fans with his vision for the future of the club and the 1 who gave us a Championship stadium.

you are taking the p&ss right?!
(is he really yr uncle)?
As I've mentioned before I've no time for him at all as he's always been obnoxious and rude with a foul mouth, not to mention the ego (£4 for a signed programme)!! The shop yesterday were laughing about that-about 350 left...

Does anyone really think the B2net is down to Hubbard? Surely it's DA and the new mob who've dragged the club into the 21st century and given us an air of professionalism for once. (in fact the only downside has been the ticket office-the one area that Hubbard is in control of!

What pleased me was the number of people in the HTM getting into the swing of things. a great night.

Another one with an agenda...

The signed programme is nothing to do with Hubbard's ego, it's an established way (by Alan Stevenson) of maximising revenue by offering a limited edition programme, 650 sold (1,000 printed) for an extra £4 makes it well worthwhile.

agenda?
I've no agenda at all love, I love the Club and stadium and everyone within (apart from BH)-that's just a personal opinion-no agenda....
On this site some don't like Allott, Sheridan , Brecks etc- they've no agenda just voicing an opinion-after all that's what Internet forums are all about?

He is; he isn't.

Not his idea, to be fair, but something he went along with to raise a few quid. You see 350 left; others will see 650 sold, at £4 extra per programme. £2,600.

Plainly, the ground wouldn't have been open now without Allen's money. But Allen didn't just build the thing and see if anyone wanted to play in it; rather, he financed Hubbard's vision. The stadium needed money and vision to come to fruition.

Talking of DA, good to see him mixing with the fans before the kick off and doing his routine inspection! Good for him!

fair point Stuart, still don't like him though! (I think we all had a vision though-not just Hubbard)!?
There's never an excuse for rudeness, bad manners or a foul mouth though- even in football.

It was my first visit last night, although it felt like I had been before after having watched the webcam every day from when it went online! My mum came along too-her second game in 10 years or so!
Parked very easily on the road next to the Crown and Anchor- I bet the landlord there is a happy chap. Felt very excited walking to the ground, had a quick look at the bricks and then went the long way round (past the North stand) to the East stand. Very impressed with the concourse although it didn't seem big enough at half time! Am I right in saying they only serve pints at the end? This would be an issue if away fans are in there. Was a little worried about sitting on row B but I enjoyed watching the match from there- the pitch looks fantastic.
I too spent a lot of time looking around during the match- the ground looks even better in real life. Other fans may slag it off- the identikit stadium, but I am sure that they will be envious without admitting it. At this time there isn't a new stadium like it and Colchester's and Shrewsbury's grounds are nothing in comparison. A huge well done to everyone involved.
Thoroughly enjoyed the game and have high expectations of our new team- from what I saw last night there is a great improvement on last season. As a centre half myself I thought Ford was superb and was mightily impressed with Whitaker, Mattis, Hunt and Griffiths- all Sheridan signings! I hope that Griffiths enjoys his month here and decides to stay longer. Let's hope that we start with the finishing line up and formation on Saturday.
Atmoshere was brilliant in the second half- well done to the South stand. There were loads joining in with me in the East stand.
Last night the b2net made me forget about Saltergate and I am so looking forward to my next visit. I normally go to more away games than home ones but this season, apart from Cheltenham and Hereford away, I will be sampling as many different parts of the ground as possible. I have almost persuaded my wife and 2 daughters to come with me to my next visit- probably the Lincoln game so I hope they will be as impressed as I was last night.

We might all have had a vision, but only one of us persuaded someone to throw six million pounds at it!

What a good thread this is. It's pretty heartwarming to read of peoples new found or rediscovered passion for the club.

I think now would be a good time to hear from Mr Allen and see what he makes of things so far.
The greatest miscarriage of justice since my case against the producers of the Never Ending Story
