I'm not up on the latest on goings, but Haslam deserves to have his top set removed.

He does but the current incumbents have fcked up big time, just a few examples;

1. Giving an untried manager a four year deal
2. Promoting unsustainable cut price season tickets
3. Signing up to a 4/5 year deal to stage pop concerts, including Westlife in the knowledge (or lack of research) that a neighbouring club lost £44k doing the same

Apparently the accounts were in the local paper the other day...Haslam's still taking loads out of the club in rent. He has them by the balls.

I don't really feel sorry for them, ill sacrifice the two derbys a year for us to be well ahead of them. Hopefully 2 leagues difference next year  . We'll enjoy the derby against sheffield wednesday and notts county next year.

i think it is sad actually. id love mansfield to be in our division so we can have two cracking derby games. wudnt you prefer to watch town beat mansfield then beat barnet or stevenage??. sad times for them. We could so easily have been in their position or worse by the time that k n o b darren brown had finished.

Yes indeed, imagine how we'd feel if Haslam had got hold of our club, remember how we did feel when we had that season of hell under Darren Brown. All this could easily be happening to us. I must admit I laughed when they went down, and some of their fans would laugh if all this happened to us. However I still feel alot of sympathy for all their decent fans.

I enjoy the Mansfield games as they have/had a real edge to them and the away trip always felt like a home game due to the amount of CFC supporters. Whilst it's amusing to see them wallow, I do miss the rivalry.

Forget them, focus on proper derby games against Sheff Yoo and Pigs, they have an edge to them

Sad, sad days, I don't buy into this Stags bashing. Mansfield were a decent Club with decent staff until Haslam got involved.

Agreed, does not give me any joy at all.

For all what Haslam did they have never "cheated" like Rotherscum, now if they started to fold like a pack of cards I would be celebrating.

Disgraceful, dispicable club.

I certainly agree, Mansfields problems in my opinion is that they have not had anyone at the helm recently with real business experience and financial backing. Since dropping out of the league they never really got their house in order. Hope they turn it round and we see them at b2NET IN A CUP COMPETION SOON.
God I hate this league.

I fear that may well be the Byron Cup, the way they're going.

Y'know, i genuinely struggle to get my head 'round this 'I wish we were playing Mansfield' attitude.

Firstly, the kick-off time is usually changed to an inconvenient hour, pub opening times are restricted, and it's virtually impossible to enjoy the normal match-day experience. In short, it's a pain in the ass.

Secondly, it's alright folk saying it's great to beat 'em, but what happens when it's the other way around? What about the hysterical reaction over the M1? I know for a fact that some Staglets still celebrate their ultimately meaningless winner in a game that happened more than six years ago , and i think it's common knowledge that playing us is always their cup final; so aren't we more ambitious than that? Aren't our aspirations aimed somewhat higher? Besides, if it's so good to keep them in their place, so to speak, what better way than looking down at them from two or three divisions above?

I've also heard folk refer to the money we make from them turning up, but wouldn't it be better to see the Bowels, Southampton, or Charlton in town? Aren't there plenty of clubs in League One that could easily match their turnout? Shouldn't we be focusing upwards rather than on a club that've traditionally occupied the lowest tier? And now, how embarrassing is it to have a non-league outfit as our supposed 'rivals'.

Let's get this straight, too: though it's fair to say there are decent fans of MTFC, fans whose only difference to ourselves is to've had the misfortune of being born on the wrong side of the motorway, there are many, many Staggies that hate - hate - Chesterfield F.C. with a vengeance. If the roles were reversed there'd be no wistful comments from them lamenting how much they miss our fixtures; there'd be no sympathetic rhetoric looking forward to the day we somehow got ourselves back into the Football League: all you'd have would be scornful mockery, vitriol, and a genuine desire to see us finished once and for all - just as they expressed when we faced oblivion!

Nah, i'm sorry, but i wouldn't shed any tears if they fell even further down the league pyramid. Infact as i've stated on numerous occasions previously, the best policy we could adopt towards our FORMER rivals is one of amused indifference.

First game at new ground, which `song` got the biggest reaction?

STAND UP IF YOU HATE MANSFIELD.

Your constant ` ignore/amusement/ridicule` posts about mansfailed are the same.

I rarely see you post with such passion concerning either Sheffield Wednesday Or Sheffield United, so your inadvertantly showing who our rivals really are.

Why would I want to go to a sheffield derby?
A new hope.

Nothing beats an away day at Feel Ill and beating them in their own back yard. Might be different for some people but the Dee Dars don't have the same pull for me!

And it made my toes curl, 'D'.

There we were, in our long awaited new stadium, embarking on what we hope will be a new era of prosperity and success, yet folk gave time and effort to a non league outfit who've had zero impact on us for nearly two decades. That's why i get so irritated. Put it like this: what would've hurt a visiting Staggie more; our singing about them, despite the gulf in class, or an utter indifference? My guess - no, my certainty is that upon hearing the song a wry smile would've appeared on their face, allied to the warm, encouraging knowledge that they still have an effect on us regardless of their plight. On the other hand if they'd've been met by some sort of 'Who? Mansfield? Oh yeah - are they still going?' when speaking to Town fans, i'm sure the reports they took home with them would've been far less appetising.

The bottom line is the Deedah clubs hurt us every day of every week because people from our catchment area support them rather than us, whilst Mansfield Town F.C. are little more than a laughing stock. Thing is, though, there's not a great deal i/we can do to address that on this forum, however i'd hope i can persuade at least a couple of Town fans that singing songs about our non league neighbours does far more to encourage them than hurt them.

Shame for the kids but that's as far as i'll go.

I'd like them to gain league status as the same time as we made the championship...they would have to go through the humiliation then of potentially drawing us in a game like tonight as a seeded club.

For what it's worth, i've discovered that several players from the now defunct Mansfield C of E have joined our own.
