Happy with the B2net. Think it looks excellent. Time to be progressive with the all seater and what a job that has been done.

Will miss the kop but not enough for it to beat the new ground as a venue. Hope people are won over after the first game

i dont care what anyone says our ground at 13 million is an absolute snip ,it looks absolutely fantastic, the brickwork gives it a total class look and it is very pleasing on the eye,the frontage also looks great even at this stage and when the landscaping is finished it will be the absolute dogs

Couldn't agree more. Why any one nowdays wants to stand up for two hours with all the problems it brings is beyond me.It seems that the experience of Hillsborough has quickly been forgotton by some people.

What problems was there standing on the Kop?

Sitting down in freezing weather is horrible, your gonads freeze for a start

Well they do when they're as big as mine

Either that or they actually listen to what the fans want.

Would you like to stand on a kop that 6 to 8 steps deep?

If we had tried that there would have been a riot on here

In 20 years of being on the kop I'm struggling to remember a single fatality or injury. Hillsbrough had nothing to do with the terracing. Bad management and a lack of organisation caused the Hillsbrough disaster. The Ellis stadium was all seater and look what happened there.

In keeping with the tinpot non league nature of Morecambe's ground they are getting a Mansfield fan to open it.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

For what it's worth i can remember several occasions during the 'Cox era' (i.e. when we used to get bl00dy good crowds) that i was physically lifted by a surge and pressed against the barriers to be left unable to move or breath for what seemed like a prolonged period (i was a youngster back then). As was said in 'Fever Pitch' though, you just didn't expect to get injured at a football match, it just didn't happen.

Then came Hillsborough.

I don't think anyone can attribute what happened that day to one, or even a few, individual factors, infact it was a culmination of many factors that'd developed through preceeding years: hooliganism dictating barriers were in place; Liverpool fans becoming accostomed to behaving in a certain manner; inadequate stadiums; over-zealous policing; and, as i mentioned before, a general complacency amongst all parties when it came to supporter safety.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

And no attempt to describe why.

Jim has lived in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire with his wife Josephine for the last 50 years and spent all of his working life in various senior management roles with the National Coal Board. He was for many years an ardent supporter of Mansfield Town Football Club and he arranged for his grandson Paul to be the club mascot for the 1987 Freight Rover final at Wembley when Mansfield defeated Bristol City.

The key word there is 'was'.

Thats even worse, a man who has changed his allegiance. Still he was a Notts miner who joined the Labour party, he should know all about having divided loyalties.
