Is there a doctor in the house so they can stitch my sides up?

Of course even the thickest of the thickest knows that Harry Ramsdens is from Guiseley.

Just so you know OCS Group (65,000 employees worldwide) and British Energy (two nuclear power stations). Morecambe and Lancaster unemployment rate less than half the national average, Chesterfield double the national average.

I can assure you, having toured the ground, it isn't poorer than Christie Park. Admittedly the home terrace is smaller then before but then that was never full. The offices, shop, catering, secretary and stewards all worked out of temporary buildings and the bar under the Main Stand was tiny and very poor; the away dressing room was horrendous and the home one wasn't much kop either.

You've got a beautiful new all-seater ground. But having been to grounds like MK Dons and Shrewsbury where the capacity is much greater than the average attendance they are pretty soulless places. We've got a ground that will keep us in the Football League on a debt-free basis and give us the financial means to push for promotion without spending what we haven't got.

Your ground is utterly Bunkum for the money an absolute joke.

I love the fact that you brought employment figures into your post by the way....morecambe is a forgotten hole and compared to chesterfield is a terrible place. Been twice and I have ticked it off as a place to revisit...especially as stevie wonder designed your new deva stadium.

You'll always be non league.

Lol blimey hell!

That has to be a poorest design I have seen. If anyone is stupid enough to think that would be a better matchdau experience than the B2net...heh. Laughable waste of a budget that could have got them something like ours.

When people sing "sh*t ground no fans" at your tinpot new place I hope you remember how much it cost.

Stop sounding like complete bottom holes boys, the guy has come on and given us an insight into the new facilities at their new home. Like us he his rightly proud of his clubs progress, please stop the arrogance after all we are Chesterfield not Chelsea.
God I hate this league.

I can't disagree with any of that but it doesn't alter the fact that you have built a non league standard ground. It is probably well suited to your needs and certainly has the capacity to be extended if you ever have the need and money at the same time but it doesn't have the wow factor that you deserved to expect from the most ambitious development your club has ever undertaken.

From the outside it looks like you started out with more ambitious plans but had to scale down due to financial constraints. I can't believe you originally planned to have a very narrow uncovered terrace down one side of the ground. If the B2Net had ended up looking like the Globe the natives here would have been very restless indeed,

Gotta agree with this post, 'B'.

From the images available Morecambe's new gaff looks worse than Burton's, which at least has facilities that stretch along most of one side. I'd've certainly expected more for my money.

But i guess if the Morecambe fans are getting all giddy over it then fair enough. Perhaps your final sentence best sums things up: we have different standards and expectations to those only recently elevated to the FL.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

well personally i quite like it for two reasons and looking forward to going

1,the main stand looks steeper than ours should be a great view
2,they have standing

though i still prefer the b2net design, just a shame about standing

a few updated photos on this threadon their site.

Looks a bit bland to me atm with all the breeze blocks, but it'll be interesting to see what it looks like when it's all trimmed up with seats and so on. That side opposite the main stand looks like it's not been thought out properly, or at worst, a bodge.

According to some Morcombe fans they voted for an open side that holds 600 or so!

They had one at the old ground didn't they?

I've been following their ground build since it started.

Their plans changed considerably from inception to build - their fans think due to budgetary constraints. They were originally going to have larger terraces behind the goals and a lot larger, covered area opposite the main stand. The main home terrace is quite a bit smaller than the one they had at Christie Park, and, from memory, the away terrace only holds about 1200. The total capacity is a smidge over 6k with 2k seats.

They did 'consult' their fans and decide to incorporate terracing rather than going all seater and this decision may be why the ends had to be reduced in size and the side remain uncovered - there are no grants available for building terracing and it is more expensive than building a seated stand.

I think Christie Park was indeed quite old, about 80 years if I remember correctly. They also say it was not cost effective to develop it as the stand was riddled with asbestos - but that didn't seem to hamper the destruction crew. I think their real motivating factor may have been the £££££££ offered for CP by the supermarket that bought the site!

They seem to be concentrating more on the business side than the football side as they are building a training ground on the site that they can make money from by hiring out to the public - and a hotel! I must admit I hadn't considered Morecambe as a possible holiday destination - although from what I hear they have a sizeable beach
