We had to purchase the land for "The Globe" at full market price from the City Council. That would be quite a chunk.

We had to relocate a football club who used to play where our new ground is and that took £500,000 to build them new changing rooms and pitch etc.

We don't need or want a 10,000 all seater at this point , when we do need it then it will be done. The fans asked for standing terraces as its a better atmosphere.

We are also doing a full size FA state of the art training pitch and other pitches next to the "Globe Arena" so that our players dont have to go to Preston or Lancaster University to train. There are also lots of pitches and facilities , gym etc to hire and bring in more income for the club. Sammy has a much bigger playing budget for next season.

Hi guys

yes the "designated away pub" is across the road from the new ground. There are 2 other pubs the William Mitchell and The Park Hotel fairly close.

There is also the "York Hotel" which is only a 10 minute walk to the new ground.

They are using a school about 200 yards from the "Globe" for parking 370 cars and there is lots of street parking without the need to walk 2 miles like at Shrewsbury!

i dont care what anyone says our ground at 13 million is an absolute snip ,it looks absolutely fantastic, the brickwork gives it a total class look and it is very pleasing on the eye,the frontage also looks great even at this stage and when the landscaping is finished it will be the absolute dogs
ITS NOT THE WINNING,ITS THE TAKING APART

As brilliant as our new stadium looks, it does my head in at the thought that we have to sit down forever and a day. How have Morcambe got away with terracing,I can't wait to go there.

They obviously haven't taken all the grant aid for all seater stadia requirement. The barriers have seats set within them, someone posted a picture a while ago - I thought it looked a bit of a fred carno effort.
God I hate this league.

Apart from the main stand the others look like bike sheds and than open standing terrace, well I'd rather not bother.

At least Christie Park had a decent home end

10,000 all seaters are fine if you average 8,000 +

if the crowd is under 5,000 then its like a morgue.

Someone on here said it showed a lack of ambition by us not to go for a big all seater which would be mandatory in the Championship. We've only been in the league 3 years so I am not au fait with your history but how many of your 100+ seasons have been in the 2nd tier of football ?

Darlington had the best stadium in league 2 but their fans would rather have had Christie Park and no debts !

Yes ok you want a smaller stadium to better suit current needs, fair enough, but the quality of the stadium looks well....awful

Not that i have anything against Morecambe lol, or that i have any fondness for Christie Park

If you had to buy the ground, had no grants, why didn't you just build a decent new main stand and perhaps a training ground near the town?

Its a baffling development

Got to agree, but maybe we should be grateful they didn't give the money to McIlroy instead
