If at the very best I see town as a yo-yo club between the CCC and league one, I will have fullfilled my Football ambitions,ie, the celebration of, and the promotion to the 2nd tier for the club.

Absolutely spot on.
I think Morecambe are showing a lack of ambition to be honest but like us, they will be tied to a budget for the build so they have to make the most out of what they can afford.

Or that we are thinking about promotion. Morecombe will have barely set their sites any higher than league two. In fact they'll be happy most of the time in playing league two football given the history of the club, and the size of their support.

Terracing equals no funding.

Isnt it something to do with extra reinforcement required for the crash barriers etc compared to seating. Also the safe standing areas, as used in Germany and alike, is something like double the cost.

If terracing equals no funding then how come a club the size of Morcambe can afford to snub the grants? If the club were looking into the long term then terracing should be a viable option. Numerous clubs and high profile figures have called for some kind of re-introduction, none more high profile than Alex Ferguson. Fans up and down the country have expressed an overwhelming desire for standing sections in football grounds, its been debated in parliament on a number of occasions, someone will have to listen eventually.

Perhaps they can afford it without?
Given the size of the stadium, perhaps thje difference is massive?
Perhaps they have already claimed and spent the funding money to get Christie Park up to league std?

The grants are for new builds, not what you build.
If we have ambitions of football in the 2nd tier then terracing is a no no. Do morcambe have ambitions of second tier footy?

If the time came, couldnt we just take the seats out and put crash-barriers in? With extra structural support if needed?

I would bet that the Morcambe new build in reality will be similar to the set up at Chester. Pictures/architects drawings can be deceiving. I would think the cost of their build is relative to the money they are receiving from the sale of their site.
I would think they are being very realistic with their plans and with their anticipated number of supporters in that region. Very rural out of town sandwiched betwwen Blackpool/Carlisle and not very far from the premier regions of Greater manchester.

I'm sure the foundations there would be strong enough to hold everybody standing - it's what happens at half time in grounds with seating anyway.

It's more to do with the fixings for the barriers, they need better foundations etc to hold them so they work properly.
