Assuming this stadium build starts in two weeks time and that further “minor” delays are inevitable during the build programme, where would be the best place to spend the first couple of months of the 2010/2011 season.

I assume Derby or the Sheffield teams wouldn’t have us and Saltergate isn't available where would be the best venue..........

Mansfield
Don Valley

I would favour going further

Macclesfield
Notts County
Burton
Doncaster

My questions. Why would Saltergate not be available? And why would Derby or Sheffield United not have us?

Colchester started the thier build in July and finished in late July the next year.

The first game played at the stadium was in August

We haven't started yet, but do I acknowledge that we at Chesterfield are far more efficient those at Colchester?

However there is a possibilty that the stadium will not be ready

God knows what arrangements will be made for Saltergate after the build starts

Derby and Sheffield wouldn't want us spoiling their pitch

Only hard up teams would

Surely they don't want another team on that surface, all their reserves plus the rugby. We could play at Droylesden.

If the stadium isn't finished, which it probably won't be and if saltergate isn't available. You probably wouldn't want to be playing as far as macclesfield. Its £15 -£18 on the train for me to get to chesterfield from macc, and if you have to do that every game fans would soon stop going.

Pointless thread.

We son't hand the keys over for Saltergate until we get the keys to the B2Net Arena.

I've heard from a very, very good source, that if the stadium isn't ready, we're putting in 3,000 temps seats on the Queens Park Annexe.

Yes, I've heard the same - but this time we've made sure to request those wider seats to enable us to hold a few outdoor concerts there too. Probably they won't be the right shade of blue, but hey ho, if you're homeless, what choice have you got?
I'm embarrassed by the actions of those who run my club.

Any serious delays and we have a real problem. If we don't start in the next week or so and then attempt to open for 2010/11 opening game methinks it could be a fiasco.

I'm sure some team recently moved mid season a while back. I think we would lose out on all the hype of finishing the season at Saltergate and starting the next in the new stadium. Moving mid season would be an anticlimax and increase the chances of a real cock-up

It would certainly be hard to Attract a Big team in for the opening.
