sounds plausible.
The contract offer to Gregor was honoured by the new manager and GR accepted prior to the offer expiring.
With a solid LB perhaps JS has turned his attentions to a proper LW rather than a player who can do a job in both positions.

What's your views on GR's performances in the second half of last season, do you agree with the views of most people that he improved and he can be a decent player - especially when the crowd are prepared to lay off his back and not give him verbal even before the match has started, and if he continues as he left off last season he could be a good player in the future, or are you of the opinion that he has been totally useless all his time here and he has never had a good game.
My opinion is that Edwards could be worse than GR. In the last few months of last season GR turned the corner, he gained confidence, something that he has clearly been lacking for most of his time here, our fans are never very good at getting the best out of confidence players, GR used to fear for his next mistake but in 2009 he put in some very good performances in my opinion and fully justified been on the team sheet. As player development goes i look forward to seeing if GR can continue where he left off last season, helped along with a few new faces in the team and a new direction from JS.

What does anyone think about the theory that GR was also playing for a new contract also?

I think it's more likely that he has finally got over the long term injury he had whilst at Rotherham and is fully fit. He never quite looked 100% in his first season - mind you playing in several different positions may not have helped.

If he was playing for a new contract why did he not just sign it when offered it. Why wait until shortly before training started before signing. For someone who most fans regarded as not very good for most of his career to date it's hardly like he was going to get a better deal elsewhere. Forest fans didn't rate him, Rotherham fans though he was good before his injury, but poor afterwards, and many of our fans only thought he was worth a first team shirt in 2009.
I think the GR we saw of late was the reason why Knilly thought he was worth signing.

IMO he improved greatly to become a mediocre player at best, too slow, has little strength, no good in the air and his distribution out of defence was at the best second rate. Maybe he will improve this coming season but when you are starting from such a low position then it isn't very difficult is it?

Gregor developed into a truly EXCELLENT player at L2 level in the latter part of last season; he displayed superb fitness levels, making strong runs from deep and passing well, and was a MOM candidate on many occasions.

Factual evidence? Where is there any factual evidence? There are only opinions. As before it seems only your opinion matters. Nothing changes does it? You IMO are the largest bigot on this board you even outshine H. Where ever you have been soppy one I suggest you return post haste

Ashton at shrewsbury is one player available, but then he cost Shrewsbury their promotion chances at the end the season by playing much worse than gregor has done for ages.
I wonder how many teams at this level have a left back who is better than Gregor, i suspect there isn't that many to be fair, it's often one of those areas of the team where weaker players are found. Anyway now that Rico has gone and a better coaching team is here, there's a fair chance GR will improve further.
Over the years good left backs at this club have been few and far between, we've had Nico, and Edwards, but there have been the fair share of weaker players too, nobby rogers can hardly be described as excellent, especially for most of his time here it was only really towards the end of his career that he really improved. O'Hare has faded into non league since he left us, that's just a couple of examples.
