I wonder if the plan for Championship football sooner rather than later might include appointing someone like this?

Haven't we done away with all our scouts? Aren't we using some league system now? Thats what I heard. I know one of the ex scouts and he wasn't very happy about it at all (he's now scouting for someone else). They never received any payment but the club ditched the idea.
Shame if its true

An Ex-Pro (who's name escapes me) set up a company last season who sends scouts to each game and produce a report on the team and this is then 'sold' to whoever wants it. They will also complete reports on specific players for a set fee too.

Pressumably this would be far cheaper then employing scout and paying his expenses for each game he attends?

I reckon thats open to a few back handers from clubs and agents to bung this company a nice fee for them to bump up the report on said player and stitch a buying club right up.

My pal got approached by one of these companies some time since and when he asked who else they had working for them, it was like a who's who of no marks.

The whole idea seems open to abuse to me. You have a game in April and order a report on your opponents. Are the company going to send out scouts at the end of March, or will they re-hash a report that another side commissioned in November, and save a few bob on train fare? At least with your own people you know what's happening. If we have serious Championship aspirations, and if comparatively low attendances mean those aspirations will have to be funded partly by bringing players on and selling them, then it seems to me that we'll need a properly-based scouting system. Glyn - nice bloke - knows non-league footy in the midlands and north very well.
