What with the "early bird" discount.

If you walked into the club and said I want a season ticket but will only pay the lowest earlier price or nothing, what would the club do, take the money or not ?

i believe they would yes, i know its not the same but i know someone who offered a fiver for a ticket for one match last season and they accepted

Although I got my ticket in time for the early bird discount I think the club have missed a trick, the early bird discount should have been kept on for a week after the new manager has been named to try and tempt more to purchase..

I lost my ticket Last season because I ripped it out and put it in my back pocket and forgot about it. Then I gave the Ticket man an old pre-season ticket and got through

They should say 'no', for the simple reason that this goes against the reason that the early bird discount system was put in place. Also, if they do a 'deal' it, in effect, penalises those who just pay the advertised price. If word gets out that you can haggle for a season ticket and/or for tickets for individual games it will be anarchy!

That said, I would have liked to have seen the discounted price remain in place for a period after the new Manager has been announced, just in case the announcement leads to an atmosphere of euphoria and optimism!

Yes. a ST costs nowt (£1 to make?) and say, £10 could buy some new cloth and bleach to wipe the bird Sh it of the crush barriers where i stand

If you understand supply and demand then you will know that the issue that businesses have is that they cannot sell to each customer at the price they are prepared to pay (well, not with most products) and so there is effectively a consumer premium where some people pay less than they would be prepared to. If you tried to sell to everyone at diferent prices then you would not have this and you could sell to those that are prepared to pay more at a higher price and those that will only pay less at that lower price..... But then the concept of a supply curve would disappear and my years of studying economics would be wasted!

Try asking Tesco is they will sell you a £6 bottle of wine for £3. The club should give you same response...

Of course Tesco is a hugely profitable business and can afford to turn customers away (a side issue I know, but it may also be worth noting that they've become rather good at selling £3 bottles of wine for £3, supposedly reduced from £6). Alas, I can't imagine Tesco's would have missed the marketing opportunity of extending the cheap season ticket deadline to cover the new managerial appointment though. Maximising income streams and all that...

I have - normally over a discrete item where they don't expect the purchasers to be sat / stood together a few weeks later to compare prices.. I've also haggled and failed.

The starting point was - would they sell at a lower price? my view is, because of the nature of the product, no they should not.

Should they have offered the early bird discount for longer - without doubt.

Can you haggle discounts on some products - no doubt.

Is Tesco's ability to dupe the customer (sorry, their marketing...) better than CFC's - probably.....
