As i've maintained for some time now, it's not a case of if Ward goes, but when.
So, two questions:
1. Do we accept an offer or risk a tribunal?
2. Given his record (and that yesterday's rumour appears to be unfounded), should Richardson be handed cash to replace him?

1) If it is £250k plus, take it. We'd not get that at a tribunal.
2) Given that LR is the man in the job until the "new investor" steps in, we have two choices - either let LR spend it or sit on it and give it to the new man. It doesn't take much thinking about to realise that we'd have to let LR spend it, since to keep it for his successor would appear to confirm the doubts that have been aired about LR's future, and the club have seemed anxious to avoid doing this. To fail to replace Ward at all is to play with only Lester up front. The answer might be to get a Barnsley player in to the end of the season on loan as part of the deal, and keep the wedge for the new man.

Apparently Barnsley have put a time limit on their offer, we either take it or leave it.

He'd be fine for our level, and is the kind of player we need up front.

But for this season, what's the point?

As previously said, not a penny should be given to Lee Richardson's transfer kitty - save it.

If they were all that great a judge of association football, they'd be watching us, not Barnsley

I'd be coming back down the A61 with the Barnsley chairman's money, hand and forearm in my gob, having bitten his hand off.

WE need a player who can head it to be fair and he can't, his asset like Ward is speed

True, more Folan-esque than anything else, but still, it's an improvement in the height department if nothing else!

Think about it though before we say we should sell him. Selling Folan probably cost us our place in league 1, and i'd seriously worry about our future without Ward especially as its plain obvious that Richardson is not going to be sacked. I'd see this board let us slip into the conference than keep Ward and sack Rico....bad times, no faith in Hubbard though.

We won't get relegated. But this season is already a write-off, so it just puts more emphasise on the takeover/new management to happen before the start of next season. Confident of that though? Definately not.

Another thing, say we sell Ward and dont spend to replace him, Hubbard sells up and walks off with the cash so we dont see it anyway? Could that happen?

Unless i'm mistaken its the same Odejayi who towered above the Chelsea defence and keeper to knock them out of the cup last season so i suspect he is decent enough in the air.

He had a decent record for Cheltenham prior to moving to Oakwell and would be a handful at League One\Two level and should be considered seriously if he is part of the offer. Speaking to a Barnsley fan about him i get the message that he tries but is limited at Championship level and they are fed up with him. Could be the kind of player where a change of scenery does him the world of good.

I think it would be a cracking signing for us. If we can afford his wages.......

On reflection, maybe there's a third question the sale of Ward illicits:

Do we cash in and use the money to finally rid ourselves of Hubbard's appointment and bring in a higher caliber of Manager than otherwise possible?

Maybe the rumoured plan for Allen to appoint an inexperienced and unproven Manager of his own renders this question moot, though.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

We won't go down this season - Grimsby are gash, and Luton and Bournemouth have a huge amount to make up. If we don't sell him now he'll walk in the summer, so we won't have the benefit of him next season, either way. We kept Leven, didn't go up, and lost him for nowt at the season's end. I wouldn't gamble on getting more than £100k plus add-ons off a tribunal, and I can't see us getting a better offer than Barnsley's, if it is what folk here say.
