AD is in my opinion getting better every game I see him play, I thought he was excellent last night and certainly is our best defender at the moment, he is back to where he was prior to last season if not slightly better. If he had played like this last season we would without doubt made the play offs, not that I am laying the blame solely at his feet. Well done Arron keep it up

The answers rather simple playing alongside Reuben he was the attacking the ball centre half heading etc with Janos he had to play the Reuben role but with Page he is once again playing the attacking headerer again

At times last season he always looked like he was looking around and pondering where to run next. This season, just look at the concentration on his face, never takes his eye of the ball. Had a great season, and remains one of my favourite players.
Carson Out.

Downes has always been an excellent defender; much as I like Janos, Aaron is in a different class as a footballer. The problem last season was that we had two inexperienced CBs which led to mistakes. Rico made the right call in getting more experienced defenders in and retaining Downes.
Incidentally, I've always maintained that Barry Roche's form was undermined by the uncertainty when Downes and Kovacs were playing, and, nothing against Carson who is ok, but Roche is a better keeper and I still say it's a shame that our 'fans' hounded him out.

I have been told today Morcambe have drafted in another keeper on a three month loan deal because Roche just can't stop conceding goals

Conceding 22 goals in 12 games.

If he was as good as some make out, he would be at a better club than morcambe.

I've just had a look on their board and they seem to think he's a very good signing and one of their two best players this season! But they still have doubts over the way he fails to command his area and on crosses but think his shot stopping is second to none!

If his failings could be improved he would make a cracking keeper and apparently he made a triple save that was out of this world and kept them in it against dale.

Yes, but we are a basement league side death. I think a lot of the fans forget this!

All the players we have, have lots of faults! Niven and passing for example and lets face it Jamie Ward missed far to many easy chances last season did he not? Why didn't we treat Wardy with the same respect we gave to Baz? (glad we didn't by the way!) but why do some sections of fans single out certain players? A goalkeepers is a really dumb one to single out for abuse do you agree? If we had got behind Roche after he made a mistake he would have been less likely to make another wouldn't you agree? Daft as it sounds, the points this cost us could have got us close to the playoffs and with the impetus of only a few points away the team may have kicked on and just grabbed a place in the playoffs! Who knows? It's all speculation, but it wouldn't have made OUR own keeper a bag of nerves and surely his TEAM MATES would have felt for him thus knocking their morale as well!

Good luck to the lad and I hope his weaknesses can be improved upon and he will then make a cracking lower league keeper for dare I say it, a bigger team than us!

No sympathy for him.

He was dishing out the two fingered salutes way before the crowd gave him any amount of stick.

Considering the relationship the kop has with previous keepers, even Nathan Abbey, BR really was the odd one out.

He is a basement keeper, lower basement at that, not the world beater `sloppy` seems to be suggesting.
A new hope.

According to the BBC Sport report they have drafted in a keeper who was released by Blackpool at the start of the season, been without a club since and is the son of their physio because one of the keepers they have on the books is currently unavailable.

....and on the left side. Only problem I saw with his fine performance was that of all the players who were nervous in the first few minutes of each half, he was the worst affected. After that he was headerers and shoulderers above everybody else.
