Just had a look on the Brigton site,Micky Adams is not a very happy man with Currie,he said Currie used Brigton as a tool to get a 3 year deal at Chesterfield.

What wil Sir Alex say when Ronaldo leaves Man Utd then.

I don't understand what he means 'he used us as a tool' for gods sake they are a league higher than us.

As for Fergie and Ronaldo i would love to be a fly on the wall when they meet for there meeting.....

Adams ought to realise that its the way of the land

We've lost players in similar circumstances and its nice to be on the other side so to speak for once

Any player who has 2 or more clubs after him will hold at least some of the aces in contract negotiations. I assume Adams knew that we were afer Currie too. If not then perhaps we were smarter than Brighton in not publicising the details of those negotiations on the club website as Adams did for more than a week leading up to his failure to sign the player. He's been in fottball long enough to know how it works and is just busy wiping the egg from his face and blaming someone other than himself for putting it there in the first place. I'm afraid it's down to your own messy eating habits Micky.

I agree it is frustrating not knowing who the transfer targets are but here is a prime example of the way Rico goes about his business, would anyone like to comment and i am looking for the negative posters to come back with a positive reply,i may be wasting my time though in waiting for one

I think that Brighton were aware of our interest but considered us to be "little old Chesterfield, in a lower division" and felt that it was inevitable that he'd pick them

maybe it was Rico's determination to land his man, along with the offer of a longer contract that made Currie feel really wanted at our club, while Brighton were taking him for granted somewhat? they have been anouncing that he was pretty much certain to join them for over a week now, that over-confidence was obviously misplaced

Currie's coin-operated like you and me. The cumulative income over three years exceeded that on offer by the Shirt Lifters and that's why he's signed. Of course, we'll have to wait to hear how much our ambitious, highly educated (he's got an 'ology,' you know) young gaffer also influenced his thinking...

By the same token Colin Hawkins has signed for Brighton.
I'd assume Lee Richardson wanted to sign him and would have made enquiries.

At least Lee hasn't had a gay strop about a player who went elsewhere
Would you wiah to be employed by someone such as Micky Adams who publicly proves himself to be a mard-bottom?

He was his boss at Coventry and promised him a new deal when his expired in June. Adams got sacked and Coleman said he wouldn't be offering him a new deal.

I think we were used as a 'tool' for him to prove his fitness after playing less than 90 minutes of football in the season before joinings us.

I thought we went no further with him after Page signed.

I always got the impression that we only went for Hawkins when we didnt get Page, and as soon as we released that we had another chance for Page, dropped out interest in Hawkins anyway.

could be wrong, but given how quickly we moved to sign Page I'd think that was always the plan to be honest

I think we brought in Hawkins as a deperation measure at the end of last season - if he'd really impressed we might have made a bid (though from his point of view he was with us to get some match practice and put himself in the shop window after his long lay off, I'm sure). I don't think he impressed that much to be honest (certainly didn't strike me as a leader) and if we had Page in our sights Hawkins future at Saltergate would have been linked more to Kovacs departure. As it is, the other 2 centre backs Richardson has signed are both "versatile" and that makes more sense than signing a dedicated centre back when you have a small squad.

Currie U-turn angers Adams

Micky Adams admits the Darren Currie affair could have set back his Albion player hunt.

The Seagulls manager admitted he was bitterly disappointed when Currie turned his back on the Seagulls and instead opted to sign a three-year deal at Chesterfield.

The player had seemed set to move to Withdean for a second spell.

Now Adams is wondering whether he missed out on playmaking talent elsewhere while waiting for Currie to complete what looked an imminent switch from Luton Town back to the Sussex coast.

Speaking after last night's lively 4-2 friendly win at Bognor, Adams said: "I'm disappointed because when you think you have got somebody signed, your search (elsewhere) in many ways comes to an end.

"Maybe I would have signed somebody else who has now signed for another football club."

Adams added: "When a player says he is going to sign for the football club and then doesn't, I'm bitterly disappointed with that. I thought his word was his bond.

"Certainly he and his agent have handled this very badly.

"Am I surprised? I'm never surprised with footballers, to be fair.

"But myself and Dick Knight worked hard getting Darren to agree terms to join the football club.

"We thought we had done it but I suppose we shouldn't be surprised because Darren is not the man I thought he was.

"We will continue our quest. I find it difficult talking about people who are not at the football club. I really want to talk about people who are here and are committed to the football club."
