First Currie is the best thing since sliced bread but now, for some, he's no great loss.

Really? Judging by the postings on their site they've all got something to say and Adams must be livid at the loss. But I mean, who would any decent footballer want to play for the girls of Brighton or a real man's team like the Spireites?

Like the picture of the girly with the bad taste in lamps BTW :)

......also is this evidence that the investors are opening their wallets? Will 12-1 at the bookies be reduced to 5-1?

more likely evidence of Rico spending a decent chunk of his remaining wage budget on a quality player from a higher level.

To be fair, it was a pretty split board when first mentioned. Personally I didn't think it was a good move by our club to try and re-sign him before news of the Chesterfield approach.

But hey, Chesterfield offered him a longer contract and for a guy his age that's what has got to be priority surely?

Congrats on the signing and I hope he delivers for you. :)

Currie Snubs Albion for Chesterfield
Posted on: Tue 15 Jul 2008

By Tim Dudding

Darren Currie has turned down a return to Albion in favour of a free transfer move to Luton's League Two rivals Chesterfield.

Despite agreeing personal terms with the club, former Coventry and Ipswich man Currie snubbed Albion and has left Micky Adams bitterly disappointed.

The Albion boss explained, "He used us as a tool simply to get a better deal for himself at Third Division Chesterfield, but while I am disappointed that he chose to do that, I'm not that surprised."

Currie was due to sign for the Seagulls for a second time after agreeing terms following prolonged discussions with Albion - but the move was held up by the ongoing financial situation at Luton Town.

However it is now clear Currie, who scored two goals in 38 appearances for the relegated Hatters last season, was also in discussions with Chesterfield, and has agreed a three-year deal at Saltergate.

Thanks alot. Reading your board BTW it's amazing what delusions of grandeur some of your fans have about the merits of your team.

Brighton -challenging for the Championship - Chesterfield - dross. The reality, I suspect, is that their is very little to choose between the teams at all at this time.

Yes but Adams wanted him badly. He was an integral part of your set up for this season surely?

Nice to see there is at least one reasonable Seagull.
The enmity between us really is ridiculous when you consider both clubs have been shat on from a great height at various times in the past. Really that should mean we should understand each other better but it seems some just choose to ramp up the hatred on both sides. I went to Brighton the year we were screwed by Brown & it wasn't a pleasant experience. Unfortunately I only met the half-brain types that infect every club, but I always knew there must be some Seagulls who could see our plight at that time for what it was. ie a club & its fans being ripped off by a disgusting conman. Every football fan should live by the adage 'there but for the grace of god go I'.
Very pleased to be signing Currie as he has the quality to supply our forwards. He can disappear from games though like most creative players so I hope the faithful remain patient when this happens.

Well after narrowly missing out on the play offs last season we are hoping to at least get into them this season!. With arguably a better squad than last year. But yes, on a given day I would say teams like ours would match each other. Hey, who would want to be a Luton fan at the moment!!

I think Adams realised we needed somebody to plant the ball from long range reasonably accurately and Currie ticks the box from that aspect. I'm not sure he was regarded as a 'vital' piece of the jigsaw, probably more an impact from the bench sort of player.

Adams seem dissapointed purely by the fact that Currie had us waiting on the back burner citing money problems with Luton whilst all the time talking to another club after agreeing terms with us. As said earlier, I can't blame him for looking after himself, we would all do the same. It just goes to show, the ONLY loyalty in football is from the fans!

You always get the 'idiots'. Sure banter is fair but like you say when it's all boiled down to the core, fans of each club should always support each other in times of despair.

It is stupid but you can see where it comes from. A visit to their message board is priceless entertainment at the moment.

Some are so bitter at losing Currie to us that they are dragging up all the tired old stuff. They really think they are Real Madrid or something not a mid-table League One outfit. I mean to me they've always been a bit of a girly team and their fans not much better. Delusions of grandeur full on at the moment. Lots of chips on shoulders. Envelopes and Championship pics. So sad!

I think Brightons a great place by the way. Wouldn't mind living there.

I got in early. 14-1 on town to win the league a couple of weeks ago.
A new hope.

Mickey Adams doesn't know which division we're in.

Aren't we in "League 2"?

In old money we'd be in the 4th division
