I'd shoot myself if I ever started with Picken in ANY position! Where was it again I suggested putting Picken in the middle? I don't think you read my post right :ninja:

I'd also play Harsley at right back as according to the Vale fans it's his best position (play to your strenghts every time!), we have two ball winners that are ok at doing just that, Niven and Kerry so a third is just a waste when he can play so much better else where!

Also Austins legs are going and is no longer really capable of playing left back; again according to the Swans fans (play to your strenghts again). That leaves Robo at left back (suits me but not others) and Lowry as our sole creative players! Other than Ward and Lester creating for each other.

Can't wait to see who Rico comes up with as these are not easy postisions to fill. Bastiens would do me fine at left mid, but can't see it happening.

what about algar ?? i thaught he linked up well with ward in the last game of the season, all be it 40 mins, and he will raring to proove himself yet again, plus after 6 months at left back he will appreciate his position more i am sure

I thought he was still under contract which is why we "settled" with his old club.

I thought we offered Janos more than he was on but less than he expected. His current contract was offered on the back of playing in BSP while the new one was as a regular starter for us. However it is possible it was still less than colleagues who were not playing to his standard?

Do you know something Pete, I actually feel sorry for Janos. Under Roy, he was a free transfer waiting to happen, but last season he turned his career around and was one of our star performers. So based on last season, he's every right to expect an offer that would make him one of the highest paid at Saltergate.

I suspect we've played a little game with Janos........

Just what his agent told him.
He has everything to gain by signing up, learning a lot more, and attaining the age of 24 years.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

That will just be a rehash of the interview thats currently on the official site.

Does anyone know if Janos has actually returned from his trip home yet?

Let's hope so ... with Austin and Page signed up, Downes, Robertson, Picken and Lowry we have some decent defensive options. Downes is away leaving us a little short ... but it looks a lot more healthy than last year.

If Janos doesn't sign, it'll be a shame, but he was still part of a dodgy defence last year, albeit a stronger link than others.

As has been said in other threads ... other areas are in much more pressing need of attention.

im not so sure fellow spireite , it only takes one to be out long term injured , or downes away on australia duty , then were short , always build from the back iwas told

Yeah ... I doubt the budget would stretch to the type of cover that we'd all love to see though Warfy. I agree that if there's an injury or two, we're in diffs ... but think that'll be the same for the vast majority of teams in the league this year. I'd like to see Kovacs stay, but just think that there're other areas that could do with some input first. As always, time will tell! Roll on the season (after a few more signings!!!)

As much as i like Kovacs,if last friday was the deadline he should be given one last chance to sign it,if he doesn't then we should go and find a replacement, the players will be reporting back around 1st July and we need to move on,he should remember who gave him his chance of football in this country,i will always remember his goal at Lincoln followed by his celebrations, but whatever he decides i wish him well,i would love to think he will sign for us.....
