come and say that in six weeks time and then we'll see whose the COMEDIAN,i truely cannot believe the naivety of some town fans.Playing well against the odd top team and in front of the tv cameras is imo not the form of a promotion winning team the sooner you and others realise this, the better.May be i sound like i don't want town to do well, trust me i really do,i wouldn't have spent hundreds of pounds home and away this season if that was the case. But surely even you can see that apart from the xmas run when LR wasn't in charge this season there hasn't been any consistency especially at home, without which there is no chance of promotion.

I agree with this, there hasn't been no consistency with performances at home, however away we have consistently done alright.
But, with young league 2 players you're going to get inconsistency. Experience in the loan market is needed.

 Just remeind me what Downes played like last season. Kovacs was the understudy and the time, he was the one who looked like he would make the most mistakes.

Where does Kevin Gray fit onto things, last season he played over 30 first team games for Carlisle where he'd also been captain. Who brought him to the club and what qualities did it look like he was giving us?

The squad is poor, but the first 11 is top 7 material easily, maybe top 3 at a push. The loan windows key for us. Promotion, however it comes it = success.

Hey Dan, Rico himself says we are also-rans!

A lot of belief is being put into loan players.

Frankly we are expecting 2 or 3 loan players, with no affinity with the club, who haven't had time to gell and who probably have been playing reserve football for their clubs to suddenley come in and help us get promotion. It ain't going to happen folks.

Well I don't think you can get promotion with loan players. If that was the case everybody would be doing it.
A couple of loanees may thicken out the squad and may give a temporay lift but at the end of the day they can always be recalled by their clubs therefore scuppering the season.

No, Rico has made a big mistake. We needed to sign our own players in midfield and at the back yonks ago. Too many points have been needlessly thrown away because he hasn't. He has failed to strengthen when it's been blatently obvious where the problems are.

Now it's panic stations. His original loanee signings have fallen through so now he's looking at his second choices (if he had any.) The free flowing football on the floor has also gone as he increasingly resorts to 'lumping it' justifying that with statements along the lines of 'you can't play great football every week.'

As a result 4th Division football is on the cards for next season.

Yes it is. In all cases, it is some sort of career opportunity, whether it is to recover from injury, learn about senior football, be put in the shop window, or something else, and it's also an opportunity to earn a promotion bonus, just as Hurst did before completing his permanent move.

What the hell is wrong?

To be fair McFarland's side were playing in league 1 against the likes of Bristol City, Forest etc.

Rico's side are playing Chester, Mansfield etc.

I reckon McFarland is a superior manager by far. He had a good eye for talent and with a player like Lester Roy Mac would be doing a lot better than Rico this year.

So good what's he doing now?

He should be better than Rico given all those years he's been in the game, but he wasn't doing to well last season was he. He brought in the striker to complement Folan once folan had been sold, and when Ward got injured he couldn't find a suitable goalscorer even though other clubs could. Too much faffing around lead to his dismissal.

And with the run of games we have coming up there's every chance of going a few more without a win.

Is it possible to get Rooney back? Was it not his intention to get a move from Stoke on the last day of the window? Or has Rico shot us in the foot with him altogether?

Rooney could go somewhere when the window re-opens. It needs to be a club where he going to be in the starting 11 each game though, not just covering for someone who's injured.

I wonder what he though when Rico extended his loan upto the end of the season, i mean he must have realised at the time thay he wasn't going to be in the starting line up as regular as he wanted, so why did he agree to the extension.

Why would Rooney comeback to us anyway, our situation hasn't changed from when he returned to stoke.

Exactly; why did he agree to stay until the end of the season when there were never any guarantees about starting games? Our situation has changed in so much as are now desperate for reinforcement but sadly for him not a situation that would see him start every game.

I think if he'd have been on the bench on saturday against Chester he would have come on, he might even have been in the starting line up given the two suspensions. But instead of bringing the chief on it would have been better to bring Rooney on and we may have came away with all three points, surely that would have been better for us and the lad than him returning to stoke and not playing at all. But we can't force the lad to stay with us.

Unless Stoke have been in touch with him and told him that someone else is interested in signing him and he will be guaranteed a place in the starting 11.

When he agreed to stay was he featuring more in the team then? I doubt he expected to start every game, the point is he was used sparingly by Rico despite being 2nd top scorer

He was initially brought in as a replacement for Jack when Jack was unavailable, so he's done pretty well to be with us until last week. I'd rather see Rooney upfront that in midfield and i bet he'd rather play upfront, in his natural position.
