If you seriously believe that we should have pandered to a raw kid to such an extent that we bring him on as a sub regardless of whether the situation warrants it, then you've taken 'handling things badly' to a whole new level. I take it you haven't got kids...?

If you look at our results over the past 2 months the situation warranted it on many occasions, because he has a good scoring record when played as a striker.
My kids are adults now, I'm pleased to say.

Rooney always looked more confident when he started. I cant be bothered to work it out but I bet his starts (up front) to goals ratio is probably getting on for a goal a game. What's Ward's goals ratio?

Wasnt our best away victory of the season when Rooney and Lester played together?

Best away win 4 me was MK Dons Jack/Jamie up top.

You really do seem to have a problem with Ward dont you, would it be cos he's the 1st player we spent money on in years, and you can't have a go at the board when they spend can you.

Do you really believe J/L would have scored 22 without J/W creating space for him dragging defenders all over the place with his movement.

Remember W.Rooney not scoring for England for over 16months, A.Shearer 9 prem games without a goal, and a lot more great players having barren spells, if you care to check you will not find many teams in the country with 2 strikers scoring 20 a season each, reason being 1 has to do the donkey work, and for us thats Ward, and if you can't understand that then you have very limited understanding of how the game is played.
One question do you think we should offer a straight swap to stoke Ward for Rooney.

Yes but then reality would set in you would realise Stoke dont want a dwarf who cant score.

That's funny, I wasn't referring to every single post, I was referring to the post that you decided to only answer with one line to, which you pick and chose. Always think it's funny when people pick n choose cos it's obvious they can't reply to the other points.

We have lost our second top scorer,IMO a mistake, but we dont know who LR has in mind as a replacement.

We are still in the playoffs, and I expect us to maintain our league position around5th/6th/7th.

Why was it a mistake? The lad wanted to go because he couldn't get a game. If Rico had insisted on keeping him it would not only have caused resentment, it would have ruined our chances of ever getting anybody from Stoke, and probably several other clubs, ever again.
If Rico had kicked him out it would have been a mistake - letting him go when he wanted it was enlightened management and can do us nothing but good in the medium to long term.

I think the issue is why our second top scorer couldnt get a game in a side that had gone into a slump. Unless of course you simply blame everything on Aaron Downes.

Your usual well-reasoned assessment of a player's qualities, eh? And you wonder why I consider you to be a arrogant and ill-informed hate peddlar. I've summed up Ward's positive qualities above - the best you can come up with in answer is that disgraceful stuff, for which you would be kicked off most boards.
Spireite boy hit the nail right on the head in that post above The real reason you want Ward to fail is that the Board paid a lot for him, and if he succeeds it puts them in a good light - and your only ambition in life is to make them look like a bunch of incompetents. Just remind us again which Town you're a Fan of.

Its about respect, there are many on here who I disagree with passionately but I respect their views. I disagree with Death about Richardson but can understand why he holds that view. At least he doenst change his views in a petty bout of one upmanship which is why I respect him and think you are an obtuse fool.

You seriously need to chill the hell out.

At last, I'm getting through.

If you think he should have got a game you should tell us who you would have dropped to include him, and why.
We haven't gone into a slump, and we've never stopped scoring goals - second highest scorers in the division. The problems lie at the back. Not midfield, not up front - at the back.

Ward should have played out wide, Rooney as a striker.

Simple.

I'm not trawling back through the team line up for every game to answer that question. There are always options to change formation and tactics.

Either side of the Christmas wins our results have slumped, there's no doubt about that. One win in the last 6.

I'm not talking about individual games. To play Rooney you have to drop Lester, Ward or Fletcher, every one of whom offers something that Rooney hasn't got. He was an excellent lad to have on the bench or covering for injuries - he wasn't happy with that, and fair play to him, so Rico did the right thing. Would you have guarenteed him a starting place regularly to get him to stay?[color=#FF0000]

This man gets it. Ward offers positives with his pace and close skill but his finishing is letting us down. Rooney's finishing has been much better and thats whats needed most by a striker.

As for picking and choosing my answers if Stoke offered to take Ward for Rooney I would swap them. Rooney is decent now and I can see him getting better in the future. Does anyone realistically think Ward could play in the Championship?
