Even at a canter (and that's being generous) he's holding a weak midfield together and still looks perhaps the best footballer in the midfield for town.

I'd rather we was rid and found a new Clingan type somewhere. Someone who can move, compete and pass. Basically Winter with a rocket up his backside....but without that replacement and with Winter not even getting a look in much, I fear we could end up midtable come May.

A situation that was and has been avoidable. Before this season started we were particularly weak in midfield...with Gareth Davies being released as well....and if Leven does go, we're going to be very short now.

I don't understand why we haven#t sorted out the midfield this year when it was so obvious it has needed bolstering. Barnes and the young Sheffield United player both weak and unprepared for the nitty gritty of league 2...what we need is the finished article.

Please Rico...get some players in. Or do we not have a plan B again just like on a Saturday afternoon?

This weekend we would be playing without Leven anyway, so Winter will be in, then he either takes his chance or we have a further week to get a couple of loanees in.

Rico has said the most important two-thirds are the defence and attack. He doesn't believe midfield has a contribution the way he wants to play football.

FAO Mr Richardson, Mr. Hubbard and Mr. Walters: take the money, move onto other business, and run!

£100k for a average League Two midfielder? Turned down?! Unbelievable. I only hope that there is some sort of negotiating going on, because otherwise we've lost a lot of money, for a player who's worth a fraction of that. Brighton must be desperate.

I'd say the frenetic activity of the stupid transfer window system means all teams need plans X, Y & Z

to be honest i think league 1 would suit him more !
he might not be the most mobile but can pick out some great balls + if we do sell and as we have been known to do use the money to plug the gap for the lack of fans throught the gate etc etc e.g folan 5ook in = 100k out we may struggle with what we have left.

i mean nivs a work hourse but his passing ability ???

Doesn't put himself about, nesh's out of tackles, gets bullied by more physical midfielders, but yeah, he's got a fairly decent left foot.

And that's why this season....for the first time in 20 years and for all the crap I have endured in that time as a town fan I find it more difficult to even attend home games. It is the absence of the midfield. My sheer horror at the unveiling of Leven and Winter together hurt. They are absolutely dire together. Dire. I was numb and distraight that Rico had signed 2 of the slowest players I have ever seen at town. Leven proved me wrong in some games but he has still had some bad bad stinkers vs lesser sides where he just packs in.

I love the club but I have really surprised myself at how bitterly disappointing it is to see a side underachieve in this way in league 2. Players inexplicably released at the end of last season (Hall, Allott, Bailey and Hazell) would be 4 solid players for us now....and we're throwing the dice on kids from Man Utd and Sheffield United. The decent kids...inexplicably sent back (Rooney and Bastians) and utility players released?

Idiocy of the highest order.

That's a good call, Spired.

We aren't sure of the circumstances as to why Hazell left, but he is everything we need at the moment at the back.

Rico's decisions on retaining players have often left a lot to be desired.

Now if you had said 'Michael Jackson' we would be talking.

After losing Bas Savage and his moonwalking goal celebrations he needs to be replaced.
