League Two manager claims Spireites have 'ridiculously high budget' this season:

he has a point. we have just signed a keeper for an undisclosed fee and bought a current NI international from the dutch second division. We are fortunate we are backed by two local supporters who have funds to invest. this is a conversation i have with county and walsall fans at work with me.

We must surely be in range of budget controls set by the league ?

Tried to sign McGoldrick so there's probably some leeway

I'd hazard a guess the reason we didn't sign him was because we needed some outs before any more ins to meet the EFL rules. I think there may be minimum leeway with the squad size as it is right now, the Tanton's of this world will largely be financed by their parent club, hence we can squeeze them in.

Are we to presume that outgoing (s) were close or broke down last week then? Seems odd to get to the position of being close with McGoldrick if we knew we’d not be able to sign him yet being close to the wage/squad cap

Will some players have been told that they are not on the Spanish trip?

I suppose that's a key bit of ITK info.

Yeah it doesn't really add up. I'd guess he got a better offer from Barnsley in L1. Could we have done the deal and left 1 or 2, eg Madden or Hobson, out of the squad until we moved them on? Or does the fact we are paying their wages mean they have to be included in the fair play rules?

You can leave folk out of the squad but you'd still have to pay them and their wage would count towards FFP etc while they are with the club.

Logically those players carrying injuries will not be travelling.

Interesting.
I'd have thought those not leaving would travel for team togetherness/morale reasons. Plus they can still get the treatment.

Yeah you'd expect every one in Cookies plans will be going (irrelevant of injury situation) and anyone 'not wanted' will be left at home in the hope it facilitates a deal.

I wonder if any of the trialists will also go, you'd imagine we need to take at least 22 players to be able to play 11 v 11 in training and it also wouldn't be the fist time we've taken players away with us with no commitment/intention of signing for us.

Regarding injured players very little recently has been said about Donacien - is he still training with us?
