So it’s Ash and 👀👀👀 (via SpireRam) vs Rumour in the lounge in the battle for custody of Didzy.

Tbf, things have gone very quiet since the messages I got last week. The longer it goes on, the less likely it seems he’s signing. Players talk. Info spreads & things can then quickly change.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up facing us for Mansfield in a month or so.

Haha. I got told two different things remember and it was hardly an answer from Didzy. My arse is firmly on the fence!

After tonight's display I really am not bothered if he comes to us or not. Who would we leave out

Just watched Webb post match interview and very surprised that the reporter actually asked him about David McGoldrick… Webb replied that he’s not in the building ‘at the moment’…..

Way I see it is he would be a luxury. If we can get him on a deal that suits all parties then brilliant because he will only make us stronger, but if he starts asking for daft money then I’d hope we’d tell him where to go.

I wonder if were sending anyone to this behind-closed-doors game at Worksop tonight put on by the PFA of out of contract players looking to get fixed up?

Edit: One or two on here gone for big money in the past!

John swift would be a huge signing! Though suspect he will be L1 if not Championship

Was just about to post what Webb said. Interesting. Not at the moment. Or is that reading in to it too much?

Just back and very impressed by all the signings.
Hemming is a massive step up. Looks like a top goalie, acts like a top goalie. Is a top goalie.

Stirk just does the simple things well. Passes accurately, links play, demands the ball. Fit as the proverbial.
Dibley-Dias had possibly the best debut in decades. Sound positional sense, great passer, play maker. Brazilian genes.

These 2 will be our CM, with Fleck and Naylor in reserve.

Bonis is slighter and more versatile than I thought he'd be but he still won his battles. Dropped deep to great effect and set up his team mates. I can see Bonis and Grigg linking up when needs must.

Lewis is a lovely footballer. I've a feeling the Lewis/Gordon selection debate will be a long runner.

Elliot made an excellent first impression for such a young lad. Fought for some tough balls and came out on top. Good turn of pace. I'd find a loan for him so he's playing every week.

I'm Colclough's biggest fan but Duffy is better if he continues with tonight's form. Sounds crazy but both might lose out on a starting place to Markanday.

My only concern tonight was that Dunkley isn't yet up to speed. There's plenty of pre-season left of course but if he's still blowing before Barrow we might have a selection problem.

And finally...... A word of praise for Connor Cook. His ball retention, effort, and stamina were up there with all his team mates. Well done.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

May be a bit bizarre but did you spot any semblance betwean Bonnis and Dave Waller?

I agree with your comments, especially the 'And finally...', thought on Saturday he did nothing wrong and was continually being included by his team mates.Tonight he did not look out of place, which is a big comment considering the quality of play out there tonight. Those deriding him on tonight's performance were either not there or completely prejudiced.

Agree with all of that. I thought we were excellent tonight especially from around 25 minutes in.I don't understand all this knocking Duffy , I thought he was excellent 2nd half and never stopped running.

No chance, Markanday takes that right wing slot.

He has similar attributes to Hobson. He could win the battle for a subs spot if Hobson stays around. Credit to him.

Sorry, but these comments on Cook paint a false picture really. The lad is giving 100% but his positional sense is poor, his decision making equally so and he’s just not a good enough footballer . On many occasions last night for example he’s looking to implement a press on their defender without considering the ability of his team mates to back him up, consequently he did a lot of running trying to close down the guy with the ball only for him to be taken out of the game with a simple pass, he;s not even thinking of how he positions himself to reduce the options open to the player in possession. He looks completely out of place compared to everyone else IMO, so let’s not talk him up into something he’s not.

I’d sign him, he’s an upgrade on Hobson and i think there’s more to come from him.

Probably conditional on another (Naylor?) moving on perhaps.

Similar situation with Didzy I am told, deal agreed but decks need to be cleared - presumably Madden, Coco, VDC - however long the player wants to wait for us to do that remains to be seen.

Coco being given the 35 shirt last night is the biggest hint ever that he is not required.

I have been working away this week so didn’t go last night but sounded very promising, particularly the new lads and Butterfield / Elliott - all of whom look to be a step on from what we had last year.

Early days and pre season doesn’t tell you much, and results can largely be ignored but dismantling a side from the league above should certainly quieten down the post Matlock bed wetters

I wouldn't want to lose Naylor so if that means no Butterfield, so be it. Finding a new home for Madden when he's not fit yet maybe doesn't help things. I'd like McGoldrick as I think he offers something different but numbers-wise we are already about where we'd want to be.
