You must have been imagining something as Duffy didn't have a number on his shirt.

Think he had 11 on his shorts.

Reading anything in numbers mean little at this stage I would've thought

He did have number 11 on his shirt but had to change it following having a nose bleed. The replacement shirt had no number.

Fair enough. He stood right in front of me taking a corner so I knew it was blank and that was early so it must have happened quickly.

looking at the 2 line ups, seems first half was our 1st choice defence and 2nd half our 1st choice attack,

Yes that was my take too, with Bonis and Mandy still to throw into the mix. Not certain who will be the two starting central midfielders though. Stirk plus....who?

Think I was still tucking into our fish and chips and sat on the grass. On the plus side had a couple of lovely pints in the Farmacy and Newsroom before the game. Worth a trip back to Matlock to spend a bit more time at those places.

Had a cracking day in Matlock last year on the beers and we’ve been meaning to do it again ever since, wasn’t able to drink this year though so ended up driving. Hoping it’s on a Saturday again next year.

Don't know if you've ever walked in to Lumsdale but it's worth it for the scenery and micro pub. Probably about 3/4 mile from the football ground.

The Farmacy is great but add in the Thorn Tree a little bit further up the hill. I would also like to recommend the Red Lion at the bottom of the hill which brews their own (Moot Ales) and the Bentley Brook Brewing that has a lovely taproom at the bottom of the Lumsdale Valley (bit of a hike though).

Oh dear another thread turned to beer.

We started in the Thorn Tree actually. Never been there before. Fine walking down to the ground but a bit of a hike back after to the car.

You should try a walk through Lumsdale, a beautiful valley full of old mill ruins and a waterfall, starting at the school at the top of Matlock and ending at the Bentley Brook Taproom at the bottom. Then pass the Red lion on the way to the ground/town. Use the X17

Three decent micro breweries in the town the size of Matlock isn't too shabby.

Let's get ready to ramble. Will find a day to do that with the Missus but that's easier said than done.

I’ll have to try that walk myself.

We are blessed in both Staffs and Derbys with great walking and fantastic scenery. As good as anywhere else in the country.

The one at Bentley Brook? Very good!

Couple of decent bars over the bridge now as well. I went to school in Matlock and it was full of pubs when I was 17/18 then they all disappeared but last few years seemingly on its way back and a lot more going on

This is my regular walk with t'grandkid, and parking the car for a circular ramble has to be done strategically. Imo, best place is the Duke Of Wellington, downhill into town for a bag of chips and an ice cream via bank Road, past MTFC, and into Lumsdale for a bevvy then carry on. The route back up to your car is not an easy walk but it's far better than U-turning and trying to scale the near vertical Bank Road. Less than 3 miles round trip.

Nobody surely gives a hoot about friendlies at all, results or anything.

Wasn't the 9 nil win against Matlock a couple of years ago the moment that most of us knew we'd win the league? I seem to remember one of the fans being interviewed on TNT before the Dorking away game and saying so.

Not sure some of those bars that replaced the older pubs are particularly attractive for people of advancing years, thinking the likes of WB here!

I'm surprised the 'Spoons' pulled out, shame really :) Mind you it has been replaced by something equally as bad.
