I think the 8 second rule might lead to new tactics, with more players tearassing forrad at breakneck speed into unattended areas when their goalie has the ball, cos if the goalie is under pressure to release the ball quickly he's going to knock it into the channels. All the more reason for very mobile CM's.

I think also we are going to see more 'diving' by goalies if they feel the slightest touch when, presumably, the 8 seconds starts again after they get up.

I think it will go the way of the ‘steps’ and ‘6 second’ rules. A bit of early hoo-har then totally forgotten about in 6 months and players just do what they did before
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

The eight seconds will start when the referee deems the GK to be in total control of the ball

Listening to Keith Hacket, he said the reason refs didn't apply the 6 second rule is that they thought the punishment was far too severe. It was them that put forward the less severe alternative so hopefully they will apply it this time.

Yes, a much needed reduction in the average age of the squad.

It's a cost cutting exercise where players have to share a shirt

If they cost as much as the replica shirts I'm not surprised.

Presumably they will be 25a, 25b and 25c.

If we allow ourselves the leeway of naming Mandy as a CM, we can now name a first choice 11 where only the CH positions have no players under 30.

I'd never leave Naylor out by the way, but it shows the thinking.

It's starting to take shape. We badly need a CB, mind.

Its been suggested on another thread that Stevens could be that left sided CB?

I thought he was purely a left back, but if he can play there then that might be PCs thinking.

With Donacien and Williams still to accept new deals and a question mark over Dunkley then i agree with you, we are still light but 2 out of those 3 may give PC the cover he needs?

I would think that in house as such the state of play with these three is much clearer.

Has there been any update on Dunkley? With the nature of the injury, it sounded like there wasn't going to be a way back for him.

Williams would be decent cover, definitely.

I'd prefer someone younger than Stevens. Getting on a bit, potential for more injuries, etc. That said, if you have Naylor and Stirk playing in front of you, you'll be much less exposed and your job will be a bit easier (I'd expect).

Anyone can get injured at anytime regardless of age

It’s been reported on here a few times that Dunkley is ‘fit and ready to go’
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.
