taking a pure guess and that's all it is, i think we'll see one more signing of note before the end of the window and i'd expect a couple of young season long loans too but the latter may not happen until the absolute last minute, just a guess.

I think we might see one or two 'move on' now, whether that be not accepting new deals offered, or players under contract moving out either on loan or allowed to leave for nominal fee/nothing, particularly if they feel they've been pushed down the pecking order by recent singings.

The passenger list for the flight to Spain will be interesting

Your comments would be much more interesting if you were prepared to name names.

One of the most intriguing conundrums is.....who will be first choice left back?

Ha ha. I knew you'd bite.

I'm intrigued. He's been brung up with world class players, he's young, and he's survived over 80 games in L2 over 2 years so he's got hairs on his chest. I also read that Sparkes moved on a free transfer, with performance add ons, so presumably we could have attracted him here if we'd really wanted him, but have chosen Lewis instead.

So, I think he's got great potential if he listens and learns, but he'll have to be very good to be better defensively than Gordon. If he reaches that standard then he'll be a nugget.

PS Can you magic me a Matlock ticket?

Players that will probably move on:

Colclough
Hobson

Players that might move on:

VDC
Sheckleford
Donacien
Williams
Madden
Jessop

I would think geography was an important factor for Sparkes. Bristol is a lot nearer his Devon roots.

If Sparkes moved on a free then i suspect his agent was chasing more money for his client in terms of wages etc saying the club wasnt having to pay a fee for him. Always a chance we didnt want to meet demands.

Rovers offered more per week. Geographical location helped also.

Absolutely not. I expect a forward and a right back as a minimum

A right back? We have Ryheem and Vontay. We're waiting upon Janoi. Mandy is an able 3rd/4th choice.

Well yes.
Or even a chance that Cook agreed with Ferguson that he has failings and that we could do better.
If Cook had really wanted him, he'd be here.

I suspect Jessop and Hobson are already available for loan (although Hobson might push for a transfer to widen his options) and depending if JD signs or not, I can one of Shecks or VDC leaving if he does (maybe both if we sign another RB this week..).

I also think we might allow Rinaldo out on loan too, now we have 2 permanent keepers ahead of him, he's 20 soon and needs to be playing first team football.

I'm also still expecting bids for one or two players, Dobs and Mandy to be precise, not that I want us to sell either, but I do wonder if Mandy might look for more game time elsewhere, particularly if we do bring in another CM/RM (Metcalf maybe?).

If Mandy doesn't go anywhere, and we do bring in another wide player, that could see Colclough move out on loan, he would have plenty of suitors and it might do him good getting some regular 90 minutes under his belt at a slightly lower level where he can 'take the mick' a little and get his 'mojo' back.

SO getting paid more to be closer to home....doesnt take a genius to work out why he went there.

Ta.
Gunner Elliott must get regular games somewhere anawl.

Off at a tangent, do you think Cook will always have a goalie on the bench? Not sure I would.

I think with 7 subs then yes he will do, particularly now Banks isn't around to 'fill in' for half a game.

Yep. I wonder who are best outfield goalie now is? I'd guess Naylor, but Mandy would always be a willing volunteer.

We could have but his salary demands would likely been 3 x that of Lewis.

I wonder if McFadzean has ever had to 'don the gloves in his long career?

I’d be amazed if Boot wasn’t on the bench every week.
