Just finished watching comprehensive media interviews with Holloway (50 minutes) and then Brennan (40 minutes) on Youtube, covering all aspects of pre season. Post mortems, departures, new signings, loanees, pre season preparations, and much much more.

Some folk might find them a bit boring but I'd really like to hear similar from Cooky.

We are Brennan's tip for promotion, along with MK.

Yeah I’d like to see the same to be honest mate. I really like both Holloway and Brennan so will have to have a watch of those, both very honest managers who don’t give the usual stale, media friendly post match interviews etc.

Ollie is fantastic, I think he'll definitely be a "problem" for us. I still trust Cookie, ain for top settle for top 3 this year.

Good business so far here's hoping a few more Monday / Tuesday when contracts are officially up

Brennan is top drawer.
I like Holloway but I think he's a bit errrr (searching for the right word) mercurial. I'm not sure whether he'll remain level headed if they get in to a bit of a rut.

Which he doesn’t. The Holloway effect is to turn things round, sign a lengthy contract then the wheels fall off in season 2.

You’ve more chance of platting fog I reckon. Even the obligatory interviews with Liam Norcliffe I noticed last season became more and more Danny Webb than PC.

And when he does do them, you can tell he’s not a fan of doing them and shuts down as many of LN’s questions as possible to get the interview over and done with. eg is there any chance of so and so (insert injured players name being back in contention for this weekend” PC’s reply: I’m not going to comment on individuals / do (insert forthcoming oppositions managers name) ‘ job for him.

Now it may be a genuine thing that he doesn’t want such info going into the public domain, but if it is, then he needs to tell Danny Webb this because when he’s asked the same question he spills the beans without hesitation 😂

Martin Allen and Dean Saunders were quite entertaining …….

I think there’s an element of Cook not feeling like he has a lot to say. For him, management isn’t complicated, he has his methods and philosophy and sticks pretty close to that. ‘Good players’, ‘good people’, ‘respect for the opposition’ - he probably feels like he’s said it all on so many occasions that he’s happy to use the more straightforward Webb to do media on a weekly basis.

That said, I’d still expect 1866 to do a pre season interview with him.

I like Brennan but I’ve never been fond of listening to Holloway, I’d much prefer listening to Neil Warnock. Personal preference and all that.

A very good mate of mine, a Mansfield Town fan btw, and I’ve already told him we’ve got a bye in the draw, that’ll probably come back to bite me, Sod’s Law and all that, was in the hospitality at a Derby County game not long after Saunders had been sacked here, and Saunders was a host/guest speaker in the lounge, he went up to him and started to tell him what a great job he was doing at Chesterfield and he should never have been sacked, much to Saunders delight, until one of the other from the party told Saunders that my mate was indeed a Mansfield fan! Apparently his chin hit the floor!

Not sure I’d put them two in the same bracket though?

Saunders was living as a manager on the his successes as a player.

Allen was just a “BS”-er who blagged himself job after job and convinced most people (both fans and owners alike) he was far more successful than he actually was.
