I’m at Oasis on the Sunday so a nice boring home game on the Sat would be just fine

I should be for one of the gigs but can't remember which. A Saturday one at Heaton Park I'm sure. And if the lad who I paid for the ticket is reading this and doesn't reply to my email/WhatsApp it will be a small claims court case after!

Anyone know the origins of why the football season starts in august? (Often the hottest month in the calendar) I've often felt it would be better starting September to end of may, is just one of those traditional things that never gets questioned or changed???

Looking every decade since joining the League:
1899-1909 first week in September.
1919-1929-1939 last week in August.
1949-1959 Middle of August.
1969 Second week in August.
1979-1989 Third week in August.
1999 First week in August.
2009 Second week in August.
2019 First week in August.

In 1980 we played our first competitive game (not a league match) in July!

There aren't many Saturday 3pm games in the Premier League this season.

Don't mind if it's moved to the Friday night though.

Yeh it will be pretty much nailed on that the Forest game will move and if by some miracle it doesnt then we will be. Presume its still the fairly poxy allocation at County for away fans.

For those who normally ask....fixtures on phone calendars!! The Sky Sports link i used in the past packed up on me towards the end of last season with fixtures stopping showing but i think it may have sorted itself but i'd ditched them before they fixed it and was using some from elsewhere. Suspect if you have the Sky ones still they will be updated at some point to show the new seasons fixtures. EFL website also has a way of doing it now from here. Choose League 2 from the dropdown then Chesterfield and follow the process. The direct link to Google Calendar didnt work for me so if it doesnt you can use this direct link to add them manually.

Apparently the EFL trophy groups are already done. Crewe and Burton by the look of it plus an U21 club.
