Boot is fine for the middle of league 2. As is palmer, grimes and Colclough. But if you want to push onwards and upwards, we need to find better and more consistent players.
Sometimes a player outgrows the team. This team has outgrown a few of the players.

The PV manager praised him for his kicking abilities but only picked him 23 times in 5 years.
What are Boot's deficiencies? By your logic they must be correspondingly big if his kicking is so good.

In my opinion we could have gone up in the top 3 had Boot played 46 games in the league last season, hence why I don't think its one of the more important positions to strengthen this year.

This is where I am also.. if the Kirk’s are happy to spend £150k on a goalkeeper because they think it improves us then let them. The work they’ve done financially proves that they aren’t shy in sticking their hand in their pocket and not asking for anything in return.

That would be a valid point if it was an either or situation, but there is no evidence too suggest it is.

Boot is a good keeper, but as you state he is nowhere near the best. That’s exactly the reason we are looking to strengthen. Personally I like the statement of intent, building a team with a strong keeper is crucial. All that remains now is to see if he is as good as we all hope!!

It's a priority position, more so for us given how we play and what we require from a goalkeeper. As I see it, it's a position we didn't get right last season.
As for a few posters being critical about other posters expressing an opinion as to whether or not we should be paying a transfer fee for a goalkeeper, it's a debating board. There's no right or wrong answer, it's an opinion. For all they know, the same discussions might be taking place in the boardroom.

I’m no keeper expert, but it’s league 2 , show me a keeper who in a ball playing team can play the ball better, you will not be able too, I’d say his biggest deficiency is I can’t ever see him save a penalty, if he has I can’t remember, we had Thompson in the nets who ran round the ball to get it on his best foot, perhaps cook is limited in his keeper knowledge because he was 5hit

Exactly this. If you trust the people at the top of the club why would you be arsed about the money when it’s not coming out your own pocket

I think it's absolutely certain those exact conversations have been had.

I'm sure, that whoever comes in, whatever the role, they'll be better than who's left.
I'm in no rush to see multiple new signings, so I certainly won't be losing any sleep staking out the ground looking for new faces.
