At least once, probably twice since Schumacher left them. Sure they weren't too thrilled at the prospects of PC previously. Obviously their experience with the last three managers has given hem a sense of realism.

Every time the job has come up in the last 5 years I think 😆

I think he learned the hard way at Ipswich that a move of that sort isn't all it's cracked up to be. He's 40/1 with the only bookie with a market.

He's got a job here until he's had enough I suspect as I don't see there being such a downturn that he would have ever have the fans turn against him (barring the odd West Stand big mouth).
He can retire at 65 after our 5th successive season in the Championship. I'll allow it. ;)

PC very keen on managers being given plenty of time to build teams so I think you make a reasonable point there

Let's look at his track record of predicting anything. Mystic Meg and Russel Grant have a better success rate and they use(d) the guesswork of horoscopes!

No need to stress – this quiet period is totally normal. Pretty much every EFL and Premier League club is in the same situation. Deals are happening behind the scenes, even if you’re not seeing big announcements just yet. The slowdown is really just down to a few quirks in the football calendar:

1. Split summer window:
This year’s transfer window is split in two – there was a short one from June 1–10 for the Club World Cup, and then the main one kicks in from June 16 to September 1. Clubs can talk and plan anytime, but they can only officially register players during those windows.

2. Club World Cup mini-window:
FIFA added that early June window just for teams in the Club World Cup so they could tweak their squads. But to stay within the overall 89-day limit for summer transfers, everything else is paused until June 16 – which makes the middle of the month feel like a bit of a “dead zone.”

3. Contracts expire on June 30:
Most player contracts run until June 30, so even if clubs have already agreed on a deal, they usually wait until July 1 to register the player and make it official.

We signed/announced many before the end of June last year and I'm sure the year before that. Dunkley, Madden, Dunkley to name a few all signed in May/June. I'm not panicking but this contract/registration thing that gets trotted out is a red herring.

Saying a players name numerous times doesn’t help prove a point.

Any word on a striker yet?

Jonson Clarke Harris is available from Rotherham. Probably Bristol rovers bound but still only 30. Wasn't he due to sign for us after cook left but went to Coventry instead?
